Discover Blair Castle and go on a journey into the fascinating past of the Dukes and Earls of Atholl. Unique amongst Scottish castles, the story here leads you from Mary Queen of Scot's visit to the Civil War, and from the Jacobite cause to Queen Victoria's famous stay which led to the creation of Europe's only surviving private army, the Atholl Highlanders. Over 700 years of Scottish history are on display across 30 rooms. Highlights of the castle tour include the Baronial Entrance Hall, featuring weapons used at the Battle of Culloden; the classic Georgian styling of the Picture Staircase; the grandeur of the State Dining Room and Drawing Room; and the magnificent Ballroom, bedecked in hundreds of antlers. The Castle sits at the hub of a breathtaking historic landscape and the gardens and grounds feature a 9 acre walled garden, a peaceful wooded grove, a ruined kirk, a red deer park and a whimsical Gothic folly.

My wife and I visited this a few months back. I will keep this short and sweet as words can not describe. All I can say is that this place is beautiful and a must visit.

We visited this during a short family break to Perthshire and really enjoyed it. Lots of interesting scottish history to the place so we learned a lot! It also had a great cafe too.

We almost stumbled past this one on our way somewhere else, but took the time to have a look around once we got up the driveway and it was well worthwhile.

We regularly drive up and down the A9 bypassing Blair Atholl. We decided to have a few days in Highland Perthshire and visited Blair Castle. It was at the end of the season in October '15 so we had plenty of time to walk around the castle and the gardens (note that it's open from April 'til October). The castle... More

It was closed earlier in the week but on Nov. 6th through the 8th they were going to be open to the public for a craft fair. I was glad too, I didn't want my father in law to miss it. The up side was there was also the craft fair. This Castle has some of everything in it, like... More

This must be one of Scotland's best castles. There is a truly remarkable armoury in the entrance hall. We were allowed to wander round the castle rather than the guided tour but there is no photography allowed but this does not deter as there is an excellent guide book available. We did not go around the gardens but this was... More
