Description: Discover Blair Castle and go on a journey into the fascinating past of the...
Discover Blair Castle and go on a journey into the fascinating past of the Dukes and Earls of Atholl. Unique amongst Scottish castles, the story here leads you from Mary Queen of Scot's visit to the Civil War, and from the Jacobite cause to Queen Victoria's famous stay which led to the creation of Europe's only surviving private army, the Atholl Highlanders. Over 700 years of Scottish history are on display across 30 rooms. Highlights of the castle tour include the Baronial Entrance Hall, featuring weapons used at the Battle of Culloden; the classic Georgian styling of the Picture Staircase; the grandeur of the State Dining Room and Drawing Room; and the magnificent Ballroom, bedecked in hundreds of antlers. The Castle sits at the hub of a breathtaking historic landscape and the gardens and grounds feature a 9 acre walled garden, a peaceful wooded grove, a ruined kirk, a red deer park and a whimsical Gothic folly.

Stopped here on way home and paid to walk the grounds only. I was left feeling that something was missing and that there should have been more. The gardens are beautiful and worth a look.

We visited the grounds and gardens here. They were well maintained and the flowers were beautiful. It was a warm, sunny day and a delight to wonder in the garden admiring the ducks, swans and cotes in the pond with the borders of the walled garden teeming with fragrant flowers.

Great building sat in exceptional grounds. We spent a couple of hours slowly wandering around the rooms. All are magnificently furnished and give a real sense of the history of the building. At the same time it's easy to imagine this being a family home. A real treasure for this venue are the staff, they seem to be walking a... More

Yet another visit to Blair Castle and it doesn't disappoint. I have an annual pass - £12 - and you can't complain at that price. The castle is beautiful and there's loads to see. Look out for the portrait of the boss-eyed gentleman on the staircase - it always makes me smile. The rooms are lovely, there's so much to... More

We were lucky on our visit nice and warm and sunny had lunch first in the cafe before our visit plenty of selection and reasonably priced. Only down side of the castle visit is no guided tours however staff available if more information needed. The castle is impressive in its size and contents less than an hour for the visit.

Wow, what an amazing time we had here! This place is full of history and there's so much to see. We enjoyed the pleasant gardens too and the walk in the forest and little walk down to the chapel. Allow several hours if you're a history buff! We also enjoyed a nice late lunch here.

This is a wonderful castle to visit - my second favorite (Cawdor being my favorite). A bag piper plays outside the castle every hour on the hour. The great hall is decorated with lots of weaponry done artistically. There are also peacocks that roam the grounds. The ceilings are artwork in themselves. You aren't allowed to take pictures, but you... More
