Discover Blair Castle and go on a journey into the fascinating past of the Dukes and Earls of Atholl. Unique amongst Scottish castles, the story here leads you from Mary Queen of Scot's visit to the Civil War, and from the Jacobite cause to Queen Victoria's famous stay which led to the creation of Europe's only surviving private army, the Atholl Highlanders. Over 700 years of Scottish history are on display across 30 rooms. Highlights of the castle tour include the Baronial Entrance Hall, featuring weapons used at the Battle of Culloden; the classic Georgian styling of the Picture Staircase; the grandeur of the State Dining Room and Drawing Room; and the magnificent Ballroom, bedecked in hundreds of antlers. The Castle sits at the hub of a breathtaking historic landscape and the gardens and grounds feature a 9 acre walled garden, a peaceful wooded grove, a ruined kirk, a red deer park and a whimsical Gothic folly.

Enjoyed the beautiful grounds but didn't know there were deer in the grounds. Would have loved to see them. The house was interesting but wasn't impressed with the huge amount of antlers hanging on the walls representing dead deer !!

A fantastic history lesson there and then . Great displays of the family history and who they are? The castle is in fantastic condition and the staff are very friendly and know their stuff about the castle. Only downside on the day it was very cold in the castle. But well worth the visit

The castle is a short walk from the camping and caravan park through a nice alley with big trees (although not as big as Diana's trove). When we arrived the weather got cloudy and decided to give the castle a try. It is very nice with a interesting round through the different rooms including some special collections (I remember laces... More

beautifully serene!!!! gardens are lovely .. plenty of walks and make sure you say hello to the chickens who are roaming free and very very friendly... the castle itself is out of this world like a fairytale... and the history that goes with it is as exciting as the castle itself!! .. enjoy ppl x

The castle is full of historic relics with rooms furnished in 17-18 century style. The walled garden is full of local and exotic plants and is perfect for sitting in on a sunny day .

Just entering the castle takes your breathe away, old ruined castles are fine but entering a lived in castle is better. Each room has a story and staff throughout are there to give you any advice you need or tell you a story of the castle. We have yet to go here in the summer when the gardens are at... More

My wife and I had a limited budget for seeing castles during our tour of Scotland. We were really glad that we used part of it to see Blair Castle. It was well worth the visit with all of the rooms that are available to the public (30 in all) such as the beautiful period rooms, the family history portrayed,... More

Located just off the A9 -B8079 near Blair Atholl Perth to Inverness road A wonderful Castle -not cheap , but to me, worth the cost Unique Military items, and everything else you would expect from a Castle. A woodland with rare trees within it -some are the largest of their type in Britain. A nice walk. and a well run... More
