The Citadel is where you see the sign on the hill. Make your way to the car park beneath the Citadel and take the tractor train up the hill. Once inside, it is difficult to appreciate that you are in the Citadel rather than just the castle. Walk around and enjoy the views. Snacks, ice creams, gifts back at the... More

Rasnov fort is situated in small town Rasnov between Brasov and Bran. It is about 15 miles from Brasov. I had no idea about it as i planned to visit it because it was in the way, but a surprise was waiting for us. It is a place you would be really looking for. Car parking is available at the... More

Come here for a breathtaking view of the carpathians and a look at an impressive but somewhat derelict castle. This has only been open to the public for 5 years or so and really could be so much more. There are traders and people in costume inside which is a great sign but the archery by the gates? Passed right... More

We have visited this castle during our last trip to Transylvania. We didn't really know what to expect when we went to the town, it's a pretty average town, nothing special. It was quite a car journey to actually get up the hill where the castle car park is located. A nice surprise was that the car park at the bottom... More

We visited this place with a group and had a guide. First it is true that it is a good walk up a hill, but it was not difficult for me (could be for others). The advantage of walking is that it is quieter than the train and you can admire the beautiful forests on either side and can stop... More

A good place to spend several hours. Do not miss the private museum of Gheorghe Samoila (very close to the fountain, in the left)!!!

We visited on a gloomy rainy day, so this may have impacted on our experience, but overall the castle was dull. Really the inside buildings have been turned into tourist shops and photo booths with costumed actors. So all you're doing is paying to walk around some castle ruins and rebuilds that are trying to get more money out of... More

It's quite a walk up to this fortress, but there is a little train that can take you up if you don't fancy the walk. The view of the surrounding countryside is amazing when you make it right to the top. It is mainly ruins but there are some shops inside selling touristy gifts and the people make an effort... More

The castle of Rasnov is easier to access than it looks like. You have a small train on wheels or you go by walk (15 minutes from the car park). Inside it looks like an old village and the view is really amazing.

We enjoyed our tour of this fabulous fortress. There is a reasonable fee. Once inside, it was a fun little village of shops and some people in period clothing. There was even a bride and groom getting pictures taken! At one point, i heard an accordion playing so i followed the music. It was blocked off for getting to the... More
