The river flows through a terrain where it creates a large number of islands, and the eco system creates a beautiful wetland. The hotels around provide boat rids through the canals created at a good cost. And there are loads of places to stay, dine and wine. « less

Boat ride from Captains boat place is a must. also must is to negotiate the price after getting the quote. And suggest to write down the timing and places to be shown on the boat ride so as not to miss anything. Visited the superb fish spa. Enjoyed the tickling on the feet by the fish. Held a baby crocodile... More

Mangrove preservation and scenic boat ride.Don’t expect more than that. Negotiate for boat rides there is no standard rate. some will try to rip off you. aviod long holidays if you can. lot of boats andmessy crowd will distrub the serenity of the river safari up stream.

You must experience this boat ride during your stay in Bentota. The entry fee was worth the ride.. lots of tiny islands, Buddhist temples, clean water and cool air are ideal for a romantic boat ride.

On a sunny day, the broad expanse of the river, the greenery, and the small islands , all make for a good two hour outing

We had an enjoyable boat ride on the Madu river, a young boy had a pet monkey for the children to feed and hold but as soon as another boat arrived the monkey was snatched back!! And yes of course we had paid him!! The Mangoves were lovely and the Cinamon demonstration was very interesting and of course we had... More

I can only reiterate what other recent reviewers have said - boring and by Sri Lanka standards very expensive for what you see or do. If you still want to go then if you have a group of 8 and can get a good deal where for the money it is worth it to you to cruise around a river... More
