There is not much to see at the dock apart from the tourist shops and a tourist information office (which is really a sales office) at the port. We hired a car from Hertz in Stryn (contact Peter directly and he will bring the car to you for a small adiitional fee). The tourist office did have one car available... More

On a cruise the ship arrived early in the morning which provided the opportunity ( challenge) of getting up at first light to take in the wonders of the Fjord as ship covered around 60 miles of water. Fantastic views. Olden is small but picturesque so we had planned a visit across the lake nearby and then taking in the... More

Narrow valley, amazing water color, waterfalls, glacier... Quite a package. Quite a few hiking options, from easy stroll to serious mountaineering

When we got off the cruise ship we came across 'a tourist info. office and restaurant' which was more interested in selling tickets than assisting tourists. We took an open top glacier sightseeing bus at 200NK which took us around splendid mountains and waterfalls. The trip took us about 50 minutes and we had a photo stop at these marvelous... More

We cruised into Olden, and walked to the old church. Very scenic and beautiful. Farmers were cutting hay and fishermen were trying for Salmon in the river. We walked down to the river and along one of the many paths and bridges built for fishing access. Very small town, not a lot of shopping, which is one reason we liked... More

A cruise excursion gave us the opportunity to walk up to the Jostadalsbree glacier. This was advertised as strenuous but was no real problem for a couple of relatively unfit pensioners. There are troll buses but I think you miss out on part of the experience. The views are wonderful and at the top was a lake beside the glacier... More

We took a bus 35 minutes outside Olden to hike the glacier and loved every minute of the views. We would have enjoyed having more time than the 2 hours the tour bus allowed. The troll cars were booked out for hours, so our only option was to hike. I would recommend prebooking the troll cars for those who need... More

We arrived in Olden on a cruise ship and to wake in the morning as we sailed up the fjord towards Olden was awe inspiring. When we got off the ship and walked the short distance to Olden we could not believe the fantastic picture opportunities that we found. With each turn we found another view that took the breath... Our cruise ship, Braemar, stopped at Olden in May 2015 whilst cruising the Norwegian Fjords. What a delightful, small village, nestled on the side of the fjord. By the side of the dock is a pub/ cafe where you can enjoy a coffee and purchase one hour of WiFi for approx £1 (much cheaper than the rate charged on cruise... More
