Fantastic large, comfortable seats with loads of leg room, a glass of wine and a plate of cheese and biscuits. What else can you ask for in a cinema?.............the film was OK but who cares! Avoid the queues on opening morning and just book what us left in the afternoon. PS. Try the massive olives from Fennel deli in Lower... More

great atmosphere, friendly helpful staff who are passionate about movies and the REX. Love that I can have a bottle of wine and snacks whilst curling up to watch a great movie - almost like being at home but with a much bigger screen!

This is really the best cinema experience. You can relax in comfortable chairs whilst having a glass of wine or sit sround tables and eat. The cinema has been beautifully restored - a real gem. Only problem is trying to get tickets!

Went to the Rex theatre tonight with my family and had a very enjoyable evening. The whole idea is that it's an old fashioned theatre with big comfy red seats. I would definitely recommend sitting downstairs where there are 4 seats around a small table. You can purchase drinks, snacks and cheese board which I would also recommend. The atmosphere... More

Having been to The Rex a number of times now I continue to be impressed time after time, by the experience it offers. Big screen viewing with a nice glass of Rioja & a bowl of olives, what more could you want? As a St. Albans resident, I cannot wait for the new Rex to open up here, I hope... More

Went to the Saturday matinee yesterday and really enjoyed the whole experience. Staff were friendly and helpful, and seats were amazing. Only downside was the people we had to share our table of 4 with. They wouldn't make room for us and did their best to make us unwelcome as though it was only their table. In the end we... More

I've never been to another cinema like it. It's more like a theatre than a cinema really, but even more beautiful than a lot of theatres! Huge comfortable seats with so much leg room that you don't need to stand up to let other people pass by. Tables with drinks and snacks brought to you are available though we're yet... More

This is in an Art Deco style which was first opened to the public in 1938 but closed down in 1988 & sadly was due to be demolished until a local group of supporters campaigned to save it. This was successful & in 2004 it reopened after a big refurbishment. There is only one screen & a showing of a... More
