As an ex staff member of this cinema perhaps my opinions are slightly jaded, however I feel like its time to give this old work place a fair write up. Like I said, I used to work the bar here back in my early teens. This cinema has a wonderful atmosphere and you will not find a movie going experience... More

If only all cinemas could be like this. The long-term dream of one man and it's been wonderful to see it become the venue it has. Always booked, super-comfortable, thinking differently - yes you can go to the bar downstairs during the film, yes they will serve you a selection of cheese and biscuits bringing it to your seat and... Maybe the title of my review just outlines my lack of experience but - in my humble opinion - you will not find a finer cinema (or cinematic experience) outside of the boutique cinemas of London. Upon entering the doors the immediate feeling is the complete opposite of that felt when entering a multiplex. No soulless queuing for tickets or... More

My husband and I visited The Rex last year and loved it so much. We sadly haven't been back yet but it is most definitely on the list of things to do. You are actually shown to your seats (do you remember those days?). The seats are enormous, you have leg room, you can actually get comfortable. The drinks are... More

Old world charm. Especially liked the comfy chairs and tables towards the front. Bar nicely situated to have a drink during the film. Took a party of 10 to The Rex for my daughters birthday. Film was awful but hey I think we knew that before booking!

This is how a cinema souls be run Great choice of films great seats and for a treat go for the tables and enjoy the cheese and wine whilst watching the film The staff are excellent and the set up a joy The only small quibble is that it gets very warm ( air conditioning ) in the upper seats... More

It wouldn't matter to me if the film wasn`t too good as the real reason we like to go here is to have a camp cocktail in The Gatsby next door and then stretch out in the armchairs and lose ourselves in movie nostalgia

Quirky but relaxed. Always a pleasant atmoshpere. Everyone is always nice and some of the films are a bit more off beat.

What a fabulous place. I had heard of it but it's an hour away from me and so I had not been. I looked up a film I wanted to see and found another I'd missed. Comfy plush seats, excellent value in the afternoons, lots of films you won't see in your local multiplex, friendly helpful staff, parent and baby... More

Don't go ! ........... and then I might get a ticket. Still always a brilliant venue and James still alive gives it an additional dimension. Keep it going just how it is. Two complaints, still no Guinness and you have put the evening prices up
