First impressions are of a very striking building. The basilica itself does not disappoint. Although in a style widely regarded as "over the top" it nevertheless delights with the quality of its interior detail. The tour then visits the ancestral home of the aristocratic family of Ignatius, around which the vast complex has been built. You visit the room where... More

A wonderful basilica in a lovely setting. The tour of the house was informative and interesting and well worth the time taken to get there.

I have visited this sanctuary of Saint Ignacio de Loiola twice and always when is not busy so I can get lost around and do not miss a details. The sanctuary is the centre of the large building complex including his birthplace house , one spiritual centre, hostel and private gardens. The Sanctuary is at this quiet neighbourhood and surrounded... More

I loved seeing the home of St Ignatius. He's one of my favorite saints. His story is inspiring and it was lovely to see where his birth and transformation took place.

I took a group of students from Loyola High School of Los Angles to see the home of St. Ignatius. This was a wonderful day for all of us, both historically and spiritually. Even for a Villanova Grad. Ha ha ha!

Gardens and park were a pleasure to walk through to the church. We listened to a group of choir singers in the church from Russia. There are cafe and restaurants nearby.

Out of nowhere you arrive and on the distance, there it is. It is quite impressive. It is actually, horizontally smaller, than it appears, the Basilica I mean. But it is so pretty on the inside full of details very well taken care of. And the outdoors set, the park and the garden, are just amazing. The only downside is... More

Nestled in a flat valley among the mountains, Loiola (and the nearby village of Azpeitia) is a scenic location, and undoubtedly worth a stop for local sights. But the birthplace of Jesuit founder St. Ignatius has been a pilgrim's destination for many years. Believers with a particular devotion to the saint will enjoy the Jesuit-themed chapels and other symbols in... More

This beautiful place is the house of young Inigo Lopez de Loyola, a founder Society of Jesus, and became a saint. Beautiful and classic cathedral. Recommended for retreat and religious activities for Catholics.
