Originally I had wanted to go to Gallipoli to commemorate Anzac Day but it turned out that we could best go several weeks later. I am so glad we weren't there with all the crowds. With only 3 bus tours on the peninsula, the emotion of the whole place was enhanced.

We visited Gallipoli with TJ earlier this month. It was a moving place, well worth the visit. And it's worth hiring a private guide, unless you have an excellent knowledge of WWI yourself.

We had gone on the Troy and Gallipoli tours with the Crowded House Tours. Our guide was Kenan Çelik, a retired lecturer and current historian. His card says "Gallipoli and Troy tours ın all weathers" and today was "all weathers" with near zero celsius temp and wind chill approaching cryogenic dimensions.
