One of the highlights of our two day De Luxe SPB Tour. We arrived early on first day with very few people about which was wonderfull. The ambiance hits you before you get in the door and is enhanced as you go through each of many rooms. The attention to detail and quality of workmanship is amazing given so much... More

This is one of the great palaces of the Tsar's . If you like major league royal palaces, this is one not to miss. We had some problems with the timed entry tickets, so we spent extra time in the gardens. It was very pleasant. Sitting there for a couple of hours was a nice break and a window into... More

Catherine Palace is fabulous - renovated from utter destruction - amazing colours of ice blue and gold present a stunning view on arrival. Our tour including coach travel was approximately £40 with entry and the tour took us from the harbour through St Petersburg to Pushkin viewing the city on the way through. There are many staterooms decorated in gold... More

Although the room has been renovated following a fire, it has been created as it was in Catherine's time. Beautiful! The Palace itself is so opulent, you can just imagine the Royal Family moving through it! Well reconstructed and worth a visit. Enjoy!

Whilst in St Petersburg we took the opportunity to visit Catherine Palace. It has to be seen to be believed. The Palace is approx. 300m long and many of the rooms have gold lining the walls. As you enter the building you are greeted by a 4 piece brass band, just adding to the atmosphere. The reception/dance room, with its... More

Everything about the palace is spectacular. The place is enormous, and each and every room is breathtaking. The palace was burned during WWII but beautifully restored, and well worth a visit.

I don't think a visit to St. Petersburg can be complete without visiting this palace, but the overcrowded conditions made the experience unpleasant.

The Amber room here is lovely and I do not think you will every see so much gold leaf in a Palace! It is an amazing place. At the end you see the photographs of how it was after the war and you cannot believe how they have renovated it so wonderfully. Apparently after the war there was a meeting... More

We enjoyed the hydrofoil journey. Don't miss Peterhof it is a spectacular sight, these fountains were built 300 years ago and are gravity fed, unbelievable!! We visited in August 2013 on a very sunny day when the gold glistened. Yes there were crowds round the main fountains but visit the rest of the palace gardens and try the trick fountains.... More
