Th hidden gem of the north east. A brilliant art deco outdoor pool beautifully maintained and very clean. I love the heated salt water pumped fresh form the sea. Much better than that revolting chlorine. lovely sunbathing areas can't wait to go back this summer. I just wish it was open for longer in June and late August its usually... More

This is a wonderful place to visit. An Art Deco, open air, heated seawater swimming pool along the coast in Stonehaven. I loved it here, swimming in warm seawater. We went in the morning during the a quiet swimming session, but there are also fun sessions for the kids with inflatables and a chute which would be fun for families... More

The pool was set to the right temperature well maintained. I would recommend going. The park near by is really fun for kids to go to afterwards.

It's great fun, really pleasant and warm. But I have on complaint. The changing rooms. Ok, so generally I don't have issues with wet floors and stuff. The women's ones just don't seem to have working showers. And the cubicles. Oh, dear. Now, being unusually tall for my age, there is no privacy. I literally HAVE TO DUCK DOWN to... More

A great experience and our primary motivation for visiting Stonehaven; there aren't many open air swimming pools operating in Scotland and we thought our boys should experience this. The lido is fantastic; tickets are valid all day so you can go early morning and return later on. There is a good reasonably priced cafe serving freshly cooked food. Afternoons ha... More

Thoroughly enjoyed my morning swims here. Open air swimming in warmish salt water (29°C). What is there not to like about that. Can be draughty, but you do not feel that in the water. I went to swim only for an hour, but you could spend all day here or leave and come back later on the same ticket. Café... More

Another season just finished, and enjoyed visiting the open air pool. The pool was nice and warm, even if the weather wasn't! The changing room facilities are good. If you are a lone swimmer after 4 is a good time on work days. For the family Sundays are great, with plenty of sun beds, tables with canopies and a canteen.... More

What a terrific rescue operation! Stonehaven swimming pool was a holiday destination for central Scottish families for decades (including the writers some generations ago) until eventual decline and closure. Some brilliant local people embarked on a rescue mission and succeeded triumphantly. All the Deco features are still there, but the water (seawater) is baby bath warm. This is swimming luxury,... Had a fantastic afternoon at Stonehaven Outdoor Swimming Pool. Water really (surprisingly) warm if a little salty, but got used to that after a while and it did make floating easier! Clean facilities and friendly staff. Will definitely be back for a full day next summer even though it's about an hours drive - well worth it.

This is one of only two outdoor pools in Scotland. It's over 80 years old and is Art Deco in style. There is a strong community involvement and volunteers offer over 5000 hours each season to keep the pool going. The changing rooms are the authentic originals, reminiscent of school, the cubicles cover from knee to neck! There are modern... More
