We went there on 16th August. It was holiday so very crowded. Only one hour boating package was available. The boatman demanded Rs.600 bribe for showing some good places but we din't agree as it was too much. He said in that place no motor boat will go but we saw two motor boats and many rowing boats in the... More

This is absolutely a wonderful place and I wonder why it has not been promoted well. Going in a boat into the mangrove was an excellent experience and out of the world. This place is about 60 Kms from Pondy and would it would take about 1.5 hours to reach from Pondy. It is open from 8am to 4pm. I... More

This place is amazing. Boating through the shadowy water lanes of mangrove, the sound of rustling of their leaves gives a feel of bohemia. I would suggest either go in the morning or afternoon. The boating service is open from 8am to 4pm. You can take the boat for an hour to roam in the mangroves or for 4-6 hours... More

My wife and I stopped in for a quick visit on a Friday evening around 16:30. We had two options: row boat for 1 hr @ 160 rupees per person, or, motor boat ride for 40 mins @ 1100 rupees total. We opted for the motor boat and think you should too. Especially if you have a larger group (the... More

If you really want to enjoy back waters and mangroove forest, then do visit this place, which is enroute to Chidambaram from Pondicherry. The mangroove forest are so dense that the motor boat ride was a boon. Few movies have also been shooted here. Lovely location to enjoy.

Pichavaram is easily approachable. Tip for persons going by road, you don't have to go to Chidambaram when going from Cuddalore, there is a road leading to pichavaram much before that. Beautiful roads right upto the spot. Friendly boatmen, lazy boating, rowing is fun. Good for a day trip and can wind up with good food at Pondy.
