While we have similar temples around, this one stands out...is it because of ASI?...other temples should copy this and create the ambience all these temples deserve, realizing we can never create one like this...the lawns, the distance from the road, parking lot are all well done....

Darasuram temple is part of the World Heritage Centre. One word description- 'Marvellous'. The stone architecture is enthralling. The minute carvings, the expressions, the beauty created in stone is unbelievably beautiful. You can miss any other temple but not Darasuram.

Must visited. Great experience. Very calm and silent and easily accessible by road. Not overcrowded and beautifully maintained. It shows that the UNESCO is very much authentic and just in recognizing heritage sites. Really a Gem.

Thanks to recognition by Unesco, Darasuram is rightly getting the attention it deserves. The USP of this site may not be the grandness of Brihadeeshwara temple, but a large set of stone art of different sizes. Dance as form of art is celebrated in this temple as multiple stone depictions of dancers adorn each pillar in the mandapa. The Chariot... More

This is one of the 3 temples which make up the UNESCO heritage site "Great Chola temples" - and I visited all of them on this trip. While the Thanjavur temple impresses by its size and grand proportions, the other two impress with the beauty of the carvings. Darasuram is very close to town of Kumbakonam - but does not... More

Darasuram is slightly off the main track between Thanjavur and Kumbakonam. It seems to be a rather less visited place too based on the few and very much local visitors we could see. Don't miss it if you are in the area though. It is one of three important vertices of the magnificent triangle of well preserved late Chola period... More
