The temple has a beautiful carving of Navaratri Mandapam -27 Nakshtras and Raasis(this... More

A very old temple and the town is named after the presiding deity. Worth a visit. A huge temple with good sculptures right in the center of the town. Best to go in the mornings.

Quite a few shops near the temple main entrance, which makes that entrance a bit crowded, but other entrances are relatively crowd free. Good Pillars... More

Do not miss this temple if you're visiting Kumbakonam. This temple has the lord shiva's lingam in the form of a kumbh (pot) and hence the name.

It is a very huge and beautiful temple with many pillars and carvings. There is an array of shops along the temple entrance selling brass and other metal articles. A visit after 10:30 in the morning is suggested if you wish to see the shops.
