Go straight to the museum and get a good lesson as to who the Queen's Own are and what they have meant to the UK for so long. Then hang out, stick your head in doors, notice also that this is a working Fort! There will be Highlanders bustling around. Give yourself a chance to learn while you appreciate the... More

I have wanted to visit Fort George for a long time. Unfortunately I wasn't able to come when my father was alive. He spent some time here with his regiment, The Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders, and would have made a great guide. I thought it would take a couple of hours to wander round. Wrong! It took me four hours... More

The Regimental Museum covers the collections of the regiments which make up the Royal Regiment of Scotland, from the 79th, and the Seaforths, onwards in time. The staff, both paid, and volunteers, you will find both knowledgeable and very helpful. There is a fascinating range of objects on display from all the various campaigns the participating regiments have been involved... More

I visited the fort after a Culloden visit too. Winding through a quaint village, the fort is expansive and comprises of many parts. What impressed me was the glimpses you get of current army life too - as it is a working barracks - there is not public access to everything. The cafe food was excellent (I have found most... More

Following an visit to Culloden this was a good visit to see the result of what followed the battle in order to suppress the Jacobites. A very good visit to a historic site which is still an active army base. Information on army life in the past is informative and quite shocking at times by telling you what life was... More

Fort George has special significance for me since my grandfather was once stationed there. The grounds of the fort are huge, and the structure itself is very impressive. The setting by the sea is also quite beautiful, although be prepared for it to be very windy and cold, depending on when you go. Make sure to visit the Regimental Museum... More

Lots of walking, very interesting, fantastic day out. Good disabled access and brilliant views of the moray firth. As well as seeing the Fort, we also managed to get a great view of the Dolphins.

Fabulous, huge site where you can truly appreciate the government's response to the Jacobite rebellion. I wouldn't fancy storming this beast I can tell you! It's a real step back in time with all the buildings complete as they were built in the 18th century. When we went there was the event " Celebration of the Centuries" and watched re... More

A real step back in time with all the buildings complete as they were built in the 18th century. Visited an amazing event called " Celebration of the Centuries" and watched re enactors recreate everything from Romans to World War Two soldiers. We were treated to a very exciting fly past by a genuine WWII spitfire aircraft, followed by the... More
