I was excited about this opportunity and the scenery was quite spectacular. However, I want to caution people that the hike is arduous! You hike 2 miles before you even get to the glacier in some steep terrain (as well as 2 miles back). The day we went, it was raining, which made it more difficult. If you are not... More

Hello lldvsd, Thank you for your review and I'm glad you found the scenery spectacular. We truly feel that this is one of the best day trips in Alaska! The full day hike can be difficult for some people, especially on a rainy day when the ice is a little harder and the trail somewhat muddy. However, for others, this... More

Our guide Chris put everyone on the hike at ease and engaged everyone in conversation on the hike to and from the glacier. His knowledge of the glacier and safe hiking on it was conveyed to us during the time on the glacier. My first trip onto a glacier was memorable and great experience. After taking this guided tour, I... More

Spent the day ice climbing and doing a descent into a moulin on root glacier. Gotta do that again! The guides were great.

Our guide, Chris was phenomenal. As an experienced ice climber he ensured our safety throughout the route to and on the glacier. We were beyond satisfied with our experience and would recommend it highly. Thumbs up!

I went on the half day glacier walk. The experience was excellent to be walking on the ice, looking down on the leaves that melted little holes in the ice and seeing into the crevasses and the huge expanse of ice. Be aware that you need to be of reasonable fitness. There was a lovely one and a half mile... More

The tour was comprehensive, with concern for the safety and well-being of participants. We went through the old facility just like the ore from the mine would have gone. Amazing facility, tough workers. It really gave you an appreciation for what workers endured prior to OSHA. Watch your step!

During my stay I took part in both full day glacial hike and full day ice climbing. The scenery is amazing, even for the experienced traveler. SEAG has a great setup with professional and inspiring guides who are dedicated in giving their guests an inspiring and thrilling experience while remaining safe. It takes time getting to the area, but it... More

Guides on these two tours were knowledgeable, considerate, and helpful. Moderate hiking skills are required to negotiate somewhat steep terrain.

We took the Mill tour in the rain. It was quite interesting. Without the tour only a few buildings are available. The only way to experience the the site is this 2 hour tour. Our guide, Katheryn, was very personable and helpful with a good knowledge of the mill. For those that lack agility, the climb down the 14 stories... More

I'd long known about SEAG and their reputation for showing people a good (and safe) time. I finally got to experience it firsthand during a trip to McCarthy while filming a TV show on the Root Glacier. Gaia and her guides were friendly, down-to-earth, professionals with a knack for making people feel comfortable in rugged (and unfamiliar) terrain. Whether ice... More
