We took the Root Glacier hike and tour of the historical Kennecott Copper mines with St Elias Alpine Guide, our guide was friendly and knowledgable and took care to ensure we were safe at all times. The hike started with a 15 minute walk to the edge of the glacier where we sat down to learn how to put on... More

The trip my friend and I took with St. Elias Alpine Guides was among our best. The S.E.A.G. team did a fantastic job every step of the way, from helping us select a route and pack to arranging our transportation there and back; everything went without a hitch. Also, I would be remiss if I did not convey my highest... More

The date of the visit above is incorrect as there isn't an option to do a long overdue & well deserved late review. In 2007 had a one day fly in trip from Chitina plus a day hike on the Root Glacier with SEAG; which was one of my top 5 days in the mountains in my life. Returned the... More

I can't say enough about our guides from St. Elias Alpine Guides. We did three separate adventures with them during this past summers family vacation to Alaska while we stayed at Kennicott Glacier Lodge. First we took the full day float trip down the Copper Ore river. We have two boys, 8 & 12, and this was their first real... More

We had a great tour of the Copper Mill, the guide was etremely knowledgeable and lots of fun to be with . To see the inner working of the mill you must be on a tour (there has been little improvememnt in the mill itself since it closed). The tour and the engineering feats of the turn of the century... The full day Root Glacier hike was the highlight of our 10 day Alaska trip. Our guide Louis was perfect. And the day was perfect- sunny with exceptional views of the peaks. You probably ask, as we did "what could you possibly see for a full day on a glacier??" A glacier has the same personality as any kind of... More

I went on a 7-day trek with St. Elias Guides (that's a whole other review and a good one) and as part of the trip, the Kennicott Mill Tour was included. I'm choosing to review the tour over the trek b/c I think it appeals to more people. My guide was Jonah and he was interesting to listen to, very... More

Walking in a glacier is more tiring than in a trail, but it is absolutely a must-do experience. The ice colours and shapes are amazing. And I would say that Root Glacier is a great place to try, as it is a beautiful glacier in a beautiful place. Our guide, Susan, was very nice and patient. Showed us how to... More

After driving to McCarthy, we took the local shuttle to Kennicott where we booked a tour through the old Kennicott Copper Processing plant with the St Elias Alpine Guides. The quality of their tour made the day trip worthwhile. Our guide offered a perfect blend of humor, knowledge, and personality. Based upon that experience -- and listening to other clients... More
