Early morning of July we headed for the entrance closest to Nelson. The ride to from Nelson was with the sun (contre lumiere) blurring the view but most encouraging. We reached the park with self-serving entrance facility and without park rangers around. We went along for a couple of hours coastal walk in well designated pathwork. After 10 o'clock people... This walk is not for the faint hearted, as the views will knock you out, as well as the walk itself. We had limited time to do it in as we booked an early ferry back from Anchorage - there are many versions of this walk to do. We chose to do the 6 hr from Bark Bay to Anchorage.... More

A great day out in the Abel Tasman National park. Took the water shuttle from Kaiteriteri to Torrent Bay. We then hiked to Bark Bay before returning to Midlands Beach to pick up the return shuttle. The path is clearly marked and well maintained with lots of great photo opportunities. You need to take a packed lunch and drinks etc... More

Easy hike on well maintained path. More people than anticipated. Would like to do multi day or longer hike on it in the future

We knew that we were going to hike a portion of the Able Tasman track, but did not really know how to approach it. We took the boat shuttle up to our starting point and then hiked for 4 hours of glorious views and sights on a very well maintained track. Take lots of water.

We took the boat from Kaiteriteri, just north of Motueka and cruised for 1 hour to Medlands, passing the icon Split Apple Rock. From Medlands we walked 4 hours along the coastal walk to Anchorage before taking the boat back to Kaiteriteri. The boat trip was good, and the walk was excellent

My wife, daughter and I started and completed the Able Tasman Trek and found it to be strenuous but well worth the trek. Even though the trek itself is on the northern coast of the New Zealand south island, it has a lot of up's and down's to traverse (though not a lot of elevation gain) We completed the trek... More

I only walked from Anchoridge to Marrahau but I truly don't get why this is so highly regarded. Yes the beaches are nice but the actual walk itself is extremely dull. Rare glimpses of the sea through trees the majority of the 12km. Cleopatra's pool was much better. Unless you really enjoy walking I would just get a water taxi/hire... More

My teenage family and I enjoyed a great few days in the area and thoroughly enjoyed the Coast Track. The track is not difficult so caters for all fitness levels which was ideal for us. Really was the most picture perfect day making the surroundings very enjoyable. Probably spent around 2 hours hiking before stopping for a picnic...highly recomended outing... More
