Hiking (or "tramping" as New Zealanders call it) from one end to the other of this 32-mile track will take days, so if you're time-constrained, pick up a section of it. The view can't be beat as you walk through sandy bays and lagoons, past coves and estuaries.

I came to Abel Tasman with a couple of friends. They decided to go on one of the excursion type things with sea kayaks etc; I'm poor so I just went for a walk. Took a water taxi out to Bark Bay and then spent the day walking back. Tell you what, it was ace. Wonderful to spend the day... More

The track itself is beautiful and winds along the coast of Tasman Bay. We hiked from Marahau to Anchorage and back in one day. It took about 3.5 hours each way. Maybe it was just because went on our hike during a holiday weekend (Easter weekend of this year), but there were a lot of people on the track when... More

Easy walk, wide path for walkers going in opposite directions. Found it too busy with dozens of walkers being dropped off at the beaches each day.

If you need a review of the Abel Tasman Coast Track should you really be going? It is both gorgeous and amazing, just go and don't look back. I do need to mention a particular service though; Nelson Lakes Shuttles and Sharlene who drove us (Sorry if I spelt your name wrong). Honestly the best service I have had from... More

The 3 day walk was amazing even though it rained the long day. Great accomodation and hosts. Scenery spectacular!

Visitors get original, unique local scenery, are not challenged too much physically in most cases, and will enjoy the tramping amid the pristine environment. We have done the ATCT entirely once and more recently took Aussie friends for a short tramp from Kaiteriteri and they loved it. Take plenty of water, a snack and first aid kit no matter how... More

A stunning walk with very good accommodation in huts. A well maintained track which is clear to follow. So many "wow' moments. Clean, pristine and a gem.

You can drive to Marahau and park your vehicle then get a water taxi up the coast. The water taxis stop at various places which allows you to walk back to Marahau taking anything from a few hours to 2 days. The walk is on a well defined path and not undulating, so it is easy walking. Much of the... More

We took a 4 day return trek with 2 friends from Marahau to Bark Bay, stopping at Anchorage. The walking was relatively easy, although up and down, with excellent tracks. The huts were much better than expected and the cleanliness would put many hostels to shame. The diversion to Cleopatra Pools was well worth the visit. We must return one... More
