Hiking (or "tramping" as New Zealanders call it) from one end to the other of this 32-mile track will take days, so if you're time-constrained, pick up a section of it. The view can't be beat as you walk through sandy bays and lagoons, past coves and estuaries.

Beautiful and very well maintained. All the tracks were clearly marked and well maintained to make it easier to walk. You go through forest, beach, and estuary. Highly recommended to do a kayak trip, full trip or part trip and rest hiking. We did it with Abel Tasman Kayaks, our guide was awesome and friendly, thoroughly enjoyed it. Favourite was... More

45 mins water taxi to drop you off at the beach and then a great walk back which takes 3-4hrs. The path is mostly in the forest following the contours of the land and the only steep bit is across the headland out of Anchorage

Last week we walked this track on a guided tour with Wilson's. Great track, well maintained. Stunning scenery. Lovely bays and beaches all the way along the coast. You can either walk or kayak, we did a combination of both and loved it. Need to be of average fitness though the fitter you are the more you will enjoy it,... More

My wife and I booked a kayak-in / hike-out one-day unguided trip. Recommend doing both and spending multiple days in the park if you have time. Abel Tasman is beautiful and made for an incredible day in nature. On your way out of the park, stop at the cafe located just near the entrance. Great environment and a wonderful way... More

Take the water taxi and have them drop you off. They will pick you up 2 hours later at a different cove. Take lunch and water.

We were dropped off at Torrent Bay by a water taxi to begin our hike back to Marahau. The trail is well maintained with no obstacles. We especially enjoyed hearing the Bellbirds along the hike. There are wonderful variations in the hike's terrain. One minute you are in the jungle and the next you are atop a cliff overlooking the... More

We travelled to Kaiteriteri to walk part of the Abel Tasman Coast Track. We took the Wilson's trip "A Great Day Out" with stops at Split Apple Rock, Apple Tree Bay, Anchorage, Medlands Beach and Tonga Quarry. We walked from Medlands Beach to Anchorage and it took us about 4hrs. It was a very enjoyable walk. Be sure to bring... More

We stayed at The Barn campsite in Sandy Bay (which I don't seem to be able to find on TA) A very convenient site near to booking areas for kayak hire and water taxis etc. We took a water taxi a little way up the coast so we could walk back along the walk (around4hrs) to the campsite. We thought... More
