Hiking (or "tramping" as New Zealanders call it) from one end to the other of this 32-mile track will take days, so if you're time-constrained, pick up a section of it. The view can't be beat as you walk through sandy bays and lagoons, past coves and estuaries.

This track attracts a LOT of tourists, so it's certainly not a walk to do if you're looking for solitude. There's a constant stream of tourists, and even though you're walking in wilderness area, the amount of people and water taxis does make it feel over-commercialized at times. However it is lovely to take a water taxi to one of... More

Walked the Coastal Trail, Anchorage Bay through to Wainui Bay in January 2016. Reservations at the Anchorage Bay hut were fully booked when we scheduled, so we skipped the Marahau to Anchorage Bay leg and took a water taxi to Anchorage Bay, where we started our hike. We were disappointed we had to do this at first, but we realized... More

The Abel Tasman Coastal Track is a must when visiting the South Island of NZ. My favourite part of the walk was the Cleopatra Pools, a 10 minute side trip off the main track. Would highly recommend climbing over the rocks and braving the cold water for a quick swim.

It was by far the best thing I have done yet. And I did a lot! So much fun, such a great experience! Must do on your list if you come to NZ! Breathtaking nature, clean campsites! Awesome, awesome, awesome!

This is the 3rd time in the Able Tasman area. First time just Kaiteriteri, 2nd time the entire track, camping all the way. This time did it the easy way (as we are 23 years older and stiffer!). We kayaked for half a day with a lovely new company called R&R Kayaks, then used the Maahau Water taxis to take... More

This was the most beautiful walk I undertook in NZ. Golden sandy beaches, turquoise waters, and the natural NZ flora was stunning. I was expecting a dinosaur to wander out of the woods at any moment because it reminded me so much of scenes from Jurassic Park.

If you are touring around and only have a few days in the Able Tasman, then don't miss this great walk. You can do sections of it with drop offs/pick ups by water taxi. Stunning views, beaches, fauna and flora. Fun hiking for young and old and a boat trip on top!

We had a great walk after joining the water taxi at Kia Teriteri. The water taxi goes as far as Totaranui Bay and then heads back., stopping at all the bays to let passengers on and off. We did the water taxi circuit up and down again to enjoy the cruise, getting off at Apple Tree Bay and walking back... More
