The view can't be beat as you walk through sandy bays and lagoons, past coves and estuaries. « less

We walked for 4 days and spent 3 nights in DOCS huts so carried all our stuff. None of the days are long and the walking is easy so plenty of times for swims and relaxing. You also get to walk through interesting bush as well. Best to walk from Motueka to Totaranui as this way you finish at a... More

We did a 3 day guided walk, staying at lodges using Wilsons. Really nice way to learn about the flora and fauna and ecology of the park, and also to talk to nice people. Marius, the guide, added an extra dimension to the walk by adding his thoughtful personality to the trip. An incredibly beautiful, tranquil and unspoilt part of... More

Don't let this outstanding opportunity slip by! Because we had time for only a day walk, we maximized the distance we could cover by taking a water taxi from Marahau to Bark Bay and then walking back to Marahau (total about 21 kilometers). We began at Bark Bay around 10 am, had lunch at Anchorage Bay, and made it back... More

We visited the Abel Tasman National Park in beginning of January 2014. We did the 3 day-hike from Marahau to Totaranui with car relocation. Originally, we were supposed to go all the way to the end, to Wainui, thus the reason for car relocation, but we developed blisters along the way (our own fault for not being better prepared), so... Two couples (seniors) took the water taxi from Marahau in Abel Tasman National Park and did part of the coastal track (12.4 kms). What a great track to walk, showing off the beautiful blue water, gigantic ferns, streams, and beaches. Such a wonderful place to take photos and enjoy the views of Abel Tasman Park. We are still enjoying the... More

Thinking of visiting Nelson-Tasman region, Abel Tasman National Park is the must! I spent two days there and felt it was not enough to explore this stunning place. The coastal track leads through the beautiful bays with the turquoise clear water, golden/white sand beaches. Just like in a paradise! Lucky enough, I saw the giant stingray, little blue penguins and... More

We just did part of this track, but highly recommend it! It's a fairly level, well maintained trail that winds through lovely lush surroundings with views of Abel Tasman's wonderful golden beaches. On our next trip, we hope to explore much, much more of it!

4 of us ladies tramped (for the oversea visitors this is Kiwi for hiking) the whole length of the Abel Tasman track carrying our packs (some people got there packs carted by boat each day), 4 nights and 5 days walking staying in the most stunning sited DOC huts. We have done most of the tramps in the South Island... More

We had a pretty jam packed itinerary for our NZ trip and we were very glad that we made the effort to go to Abel Tasman. Took the water taxi, which is great fun, then hiked about 15 km. There was a lot of uphill trekking for a jet- lagged couple in their 50s in not the best shape, but we... More
