Hiking (or "tramping" as New Zealanders call it) from one end to the other of this 32-mile track will take days, so if you're time-constrained, pick up a section of it. The view can't be beat as you walk through sandy bays and lagoons, past coves and estuaries.

i did the full track over 4 days and would recommend it to anyone with moderate fitness. The track was very even and well signposted, could do it easily in runners. A few low tide crossings but whilst cold these were only knee hight. The huts were excellently maintained; anchorage and bark bay even had solar lighting which was a... More

Only an hours drive from Nelson CBD. Well worth the time to visit this beautiful place especially on a sunny day in summer as the beaches are great and water crystal clear. Choose how long you want to walk and enjoy this amazing scenery along the way.

I did this with a group of mothers and children aged 7-9 over 3 nights and it began and fascination with tramping for myself and child. The discovery of beaches along the way with spectacular scenery at every turn. Great huts and met lots of interesting folk along the way. To top it off finished with pizza at Marahau on... More

It's been a long time (2003) since I did this park, but it was a great experience even though it rained on me the whole day! Fun to have the boat pick up. (I did not visit in July 2014, but they didn't offer earlier dates)

We took the 10:30 ferry from kaiteriteri up to Aworoa and arranged for it to pick us up from Medlands at around 16:30. The walk was not very strenuous with plenty of picnic stops and stunning lookout views along the way. it was well worth the day out, not much wildlife spotting on the walk, the boat up saw plenty... I did a day walk from Totaranui back to Wainui car park, organised the bus to take me in Takaka Tourist centre the day before ( do this before 3pm). The trail is wonderful, it was more tropical than I expected. There is a good cliff jump at Seperation point, plus seals, and fake Gannets :). When I was hiking... More

Great walk, take plenty of water if its hot and sunny, and plenty of insect repellent! Pick you distance and enjoy the spectacular views - all well maintained and signposted

The day trip was amazing. It started with a lovely boat trip along the coast and the opportunity to see wildlife and the natural beauty of the coastline. Then we were dropped off and were able to walk through the park experiencing the peace and solitude of the area. Although, we had to be at the return point to board... More

We loved hiking here. The trails are easy to negotiate and well-marked. The scenery, with the coast and forest, is lovely. The national parks in New Zealand are clean and well-maintained, and this is one of the best. They even have rest rooms along the way! Being able to take boats up the coast and hike back is a great... More

I spent my birthday with my wife in this lovely place. It's clean, quiet and nature is queen here. I loved every bit of it. I was there in February 2013. Watching the stars in this park couldn't be better. The water is clean and you can enjoy a nice trekking.
