Mount Tapyas (Chip) is a 10-20 minutes tricycle ride from coron town proper. It got its name because according to townfolks, when the japanese bombarded palawan, it chipped the upper part of the mountain. It is advisable that before starting your trek up, you should buy atleast a 500ml water to avoid dehydration and to power up your body. Though,... More

Nice short hike with good views, plenty of seating and interesting ruins of old facilities. At the top we could see a storm approaching moving across the islands like a curtain. Tried to beat it down and got absolutely soaked. Luckily trikes wait at the base for anyone caught in the rain.

Well worth the climb, as long as you're reasonably fit! Terrific view from the top, especially at sunset. There are no facilities at the top so take a drink at least. It's all steps so no disabled access. Quite a few locals seem to delight in running up, and straight back down, made me warey watching them!

While going up, i found a snake crossing the stairs. A tiring walk up. The place still shows the aftermath of typhoon haiyan. The government still havent done any restoration

Wide spaced concrete stairs with resting areas as u trek the 718 steps to summit. Go early in the morning. The place is just in cordon proper. Take a trike that cost p10 per pax to reserve your energy. Explore the summit and its surrounding trails to best appreciate it. Be daring, but always on d safe side as u... More

It's really a CLIMB, but it's worth the pain upon reaching the top. We we're all eager to get to the top, but it's no joke, especially we had a friend with asthma. So, once in a while we take a rest and quench our thirst & do some photoshoots on our way up. We made it to the top,... More

It is no joke when someone attempts to climb up 720+ steps on a summer day in a tropical country. I mean it, it really isn't a joke. This is my 3rd visit to Coron but it was only my first time to attempt to climb Mt. Tapyas. At first, I was apprehensive since it was my first time to... More

We thought we'd done enough walking in Banaue and Batad and when someone suggested Mt Tapyas we were quite hesitant. Thankfully we decided to do it. It is a long way up a LOT of steps but once there the view is majestical. Make sure you go at sunset as it is spectacular.

Be ready to climb around 724 steps!  It took around 25-30 minutes (depends on how fast you are) Once you reach the peak, view of the Coron town and its port, Calamianes group of island, Coron Island (from a distance, it looks like a "sleeping giant"). View was breathtaking - grassy mountains, islands and blue waters. There was supposed to... More

i just got time to run upstairs for the sunset, peaceful and tranquil scenery from the hilltop, starting around 6pm. it was supposed that the sunrise is also wonderful with another sensation.
