Well worth a visit, but check opening times. 100 acres of beautiful parkland (designed by ‘Capability’ Brown) with a lake, arboretum, pinetum and cascade. Perfect for walks and exploring. Bowood House itself has a wealth of antique from Queen Victoria’s wedding chair to Napoleon’s death mask and an extensive art collection.During the spring (late April to early June) there are... I visited Bowood House specifically to go to Lady Lansdowne's Christmas extravaganza. The House was decorated nicely and there was a lovely christmas tree. The christmas crafts were nice but many stalls of the same type, cashmere and candles. The show was not huge and so didn't take too long to look round. The cafe was very small and consisted... More

Hello Efjf48 Thanks for visiting the Christmas Extravaganza. I'm sorry about the issue with your pushchair - there simply is not room for them but you are right in that this should have been mentioned on the website (duly noted for next year). With regard to the price - all the money goes to charity (The Bobby Van Trust) so... More

You have to give this attraction a whole day of your time though. The adventure playground is one of the best around, the only trouble will be tearing the kids away to see the other attractions the House and Grounds has to offer. The picnic areas around the playground are clean and tidy. Everything is well maintained and attended to.... More

The great park of the Lansdowne estate is well landscaped and there is a pleasant walking trail. The gardens are small but we were there in late October when they are certainly not showing their best. The "house" is rather disappointing - the real house was torn down and what remains is interesting, but not much more than a room... More

Hello GaddisGadabout Many thanks for your review. The gardens are nice in October but as you say not at their best. We open again on March 27tth so why not visit again in the Spring or Summer when the gardens are beautiful. We also have an amazing Rhododendron garden that flowers for 6 weeks in May/June - well worth a... More

Recently came here as a group of 3 adults with 2 children aged 5 and 8 years old. Strongly recommend Bowood House as a day out, the children loved the adventure playground and there was plenty of seating around the play area to keep watch on them. Beautiful house and grounds with friendly staff (one of which showed us the... More

The adventure playground keeps our grandsons (6 & 8) entertained for hours and hours. Not cheap, but it's so good to find something that requires no effort on our part and where we have to drag them away rather than them getting bored and wanting to move on to something else. Much better for them than video games at home.

Hello alc59 Many thanks for your nice review. As your grandsons like the adventure playground so much you might like to think about a season ticket for next season which works out as a really cost effective way to visit (after your 4th visit you are effectively coming for free). We open again on March 27th, 2015. Kind regards More

Went to Bowood in the autumn, quite e endive to get in, although admittedly we didn't do the house and gardens , price all inclusive. We went with our three year old with a view to buying a season ticket as we live very close. The play areas outside are fantastic , love the swaying boats and little assault courses,... More

Hello Catherine S Thanks for your review - we are actually open all summer from late March until early November and our season ticket offers really good value as after the 4th visit you are effectively visiting for free. It sounds like you did not get to see the House - which is lovely - maybe a good excuse to... More

We recently visited with our 5 year old and parents and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. A beautiful setting, helpful staff and fantastic childrens facilities. The caves were great fun and the adventure playground the best we have seen. We also popped into the house and enjoyed a very interesting introduction by the gentleman in there. If we lived closer we... More

Being a regular NT property visitoe, I was somewhat disappointed when we visited Bowood House. I thought that the entry fee was too expensive, especially for pensioners or young families. The estate grounds and lake are very beautiful with plenty of room for kids to run around or play games...... Great place for a family day out and picnic venue,... More

Hello rotiel321 Thanks you for your review. I'm sorry you felt the entry fee was a little overpriced but we do pride ourselves on having fees on a par with other local attractions and normally get comments that we offer good value for money with so much space and lots of things to do and see. The house is still... More
