I am not a regular visitor to stately homes but the experience of Burton Constable is maybe changing my mind. This place is a treasure chest of objects an stories and is all the more remarkable because the collection was largely lost and then repurchased by the owners. The place is located just to the East of Hull and has... More

I live in Sproatley and I regularly walk into the grounds with my wife, other family members and grandchildren. The house and gardens, and setting is truly amazing. The caravan park must be one of the best in the country! Yes Chatsworth is grander but for a local venue its great for a day out for all the family. The... More

We visited on the same day as an antique fair. A wonderful house with a wealth of history. Take your time and explore the whole house. Polite and well informed staff who helped us.

We had a visit to the monthly craft fair, it was a little chilly but instead of forgoing a coffee & cake, the tea shop has an inside area specially dedicated for dining with your dog. Wonderful coffee & delicious cake enjoyed inside with our little dachshund

The building is ancient and enormous, the trust which runs it is trying hard to make it accessible in every sense, the guides are friendly, the grounds are clean with pleasant walks and the cafe is excellent - but the hall and the contents are a mishmash of mediocrity. There is nothing of real distinction to draw a visitor back.

Lovely coffee, , very family friendly, high chair for my grandaugher. Then on to a lovely walk around the beautiful grounds before a picnic on... More

We [two adults and three children] have just returned from a lovely weekend in our touring caravan. This site is immaculate!!. The approach to the entrance is very grand and impressive. On check in, the staff were very jolly and pleasant and we was led to our pitch by a nice gentleman in a golf buggy. The pitch itself was... More

This grand building is well worth the cost of entry. There are guides in most rooms, who enthusiastically tell you about the room, and hall generally. There are many fine pieces of furniture, paintings, sculptures, etc. in the rooms. There is an Orangery, stable block, good cafe, within easy walking distance of the car park.
