The variety and quality of home made cakes available in the tea shop are awesome! The house is well presented and the guides are knowledgeable and keen to explain. The internal light wells / mini courtyards could do with a lick of paint!

We visited when a show country fair was on and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Especially the dog show. lots of craft stalls unusual too, not the average standard ones. The Country house is also got to be seen, dont visit and not go!!

Lovely old building with plenty to see from bygone years. All the different parts of the house are set out with beautiful furniture and excellent paintings, depicting the history of the Hall and its various occupants. Outside there are excellent grounds to wander around, with a llamas enclosure, restaurant and coffee shop, as well as a souvenir shop. Great day... More

It has been improved greatly recently, but it can't compete with Chatsworth and the like. There is a room of different specimens which my grandson enjoyed seeing and there is also a backbone of a whale which was washed up on a nearby beach and it was this that gave Herman Mellville his idea for his book "Moby Dick"

The price of adult admission a little steep. Otherwise very interesting and in a beautiful setting with attractive grounds etc.
