Visited here on a very cold Sunday. Interesting house if somewhat dilapidated in places, with helpers who were enthusiastic and knowledgeable. We had a go at archery in the grounds which was a laugh if a bit cold. The craft fair was quite good if you like that sort of thing. We had cake and a coffee in the very... More

We visited when a show country fair was on and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Especially the dog show. lots of craft stalls unusual too, not the average standard ones. The Country house is also got to be seen, dont visit and not go!!

Lovely old building with plenty to see from bygone years. All the different parts of the house are set out with beautiful furniture and excellent paintings, depicting the history of the Hall and its various occupants. Outside there are excellent grounds to wander around, with a llamas enclosure, restaurant and coffee shop, as well as a souvenir shop. Great day... More

It has been improved greatly recently, but it can't compete with Chatsworth and the like. There is a room of different specimens which my grandson enjoyed seeing and there is also a backbone of a whale which was washed up on a nearby beach and it was this that gave Herman Mellville his idea for his book "Moby Dick"

The price of adult admission a little steep. Otherwise very interesting and in a beautiful setting with attractive grounds etc.

A gorgeous house in the countryside, well off the beaten track. A large car park is available and you enter via the tea room/gift shop. We looked at the displays in the stables (fascinating), had a walk in the gardens (which are nice but we had expected a bit more in the way of flowers) before lunch (which was delicious)... More

For a reasonable price you can spend a happy day exploring the massive grounds and the gorgeous stately home which is steeped in history. There are several walking trails which take you through the length and breadth of the grounds. When you're famished from your walks you can grab a sandwich in the quaint cafe. My only quibble is that... More

What an improvement... Hadn't been to visit for many years and was pleasantly surprised at the difference. We started in the tea room having coffees and then lunch... freshly made salads and staff couldn't do enough to help. We walked our lunch off round the lake e and through the woods and then went round the house. There are many... More
