Luckily, we had great weather, so we DID get the 'postcard' views at sunset and not too bad again in the morning for sunrise. This is, I think, the 2nd most important religious site in Myanmar. I think that staying for the night, helps give more of an insight of just how important it is. It was lovely to sit... More

The visit is recommended in many guide books, but you have to choose the right time and you have to be prepared to be disappointed. Why? To see Golden Rock like you saw it on so many postcards is (almost) impossible. Mostly the weather is humid, foggy and the view is limited. The way up is hard as you can... More

The rock itself is very impressive. Nevertheless, the temple could be bit cleaner. Lot of trash lying on the ground. Even better than the rock is everything around. The pilgrim atmosphere. The walk from the truck stop to the pagoda. And, the best thing, the truck ride up and down. A lot of fun.

Can't stress enough to not go here. Its a tiny rock painted gold. It takes 35 mins to walk to it via an easy uphill path. Considering the palaver it takes to get there and away it's not worth it. Not to mention Kin Pun is dead.

A day trip from Yangon was well worth the visit. On arrival the sign at the bottom includes a one way fee of 2,500 kyats plus life insurance,Brave or mad, you are loaded onto the back of a truck for the ride of your life to the top,it is similar to being on a rollacoaster.Foreigners then pay a fee of 5,000... Its place is very peaceful place to stay. Never forgot about this place. Very peaceful, silent, quite and free form city life. Rocks and trees are beautiful and weather so good to stay. In December, its very cold and happy to stay there.

We thought that the drive up to the rock aera would be far more exhausting. Admittedly, the seats on the truck are very cramped, but the whole atmosphere, together with all the local pilgrims sitting close to us, was certainly something very special. Everything should be already said about the spectacular ROCK, only one thing we want to add, it... More

3hours 30 minutes without traffic to get to the base station. 45 minute form the bases station, to the Kyaikto pagoda, by truck. Female are not allowed to get on the platform and touch the Golden rock. However you will have to wait until the truck to be fully seated, only the truck driver will send all of you go... More
