After a stuffy and adventurous truck drive and thousand stops on the way up (to be able to contribute to monks) and some more and more drive up... you arrive to the entrance point of Kyaktiyo. Then some walk barefoot comes up and eventually this glorious religious site welcomes the visitor. I really liked it overall - the scenic view... More

3 hours from Myanmar is the 'Kyaikto' pronounced 'Chey-ti-yo' or simply known as the Golden Rock. Myanmar is a country full of paradoxes, calm and peace-loving and facing extremities and strife at a humane level at the same time. 3 hours from Myanmar you could be at the 'Golden rock' and the myth is that this gravity defying rock rests... The golden rock is a must see in Myanmar but is not an easy ride. You have to catch a 45 minute "truck" full of people to the top of the mountain. Once you are there is very beautiful and peaceful. I do not recommend to do this attraction in 1 day trip.. You will regret it. Its better to... More

Took us 4 hours from Yangon to kimpun base to get a truck ride. YES TRUCK! you need to pay 2500kyatts for sitting at the back or 3000 for front seat (which only 5 people fits).  The journey from kimpun base was 45 minutes to the top of hill. And its thrilled the ups and downs road could make your... More

Apart from the magnificent view of the pagoda on the stone, the hanging rock on the cliff itself is magical, thus attracting tens of thousands of visitors everyyear

6000 kyats the entry fee, 5000 kyats the truck ride both ways and the guest houses there are not worth it to be honest. The Rock is nice. I guess it could be great if there is nice weather when you go wich was not the case for us.

The golden rock itself is beautiful and majestic. However the atmosphere is not that holy. There are too many people, it's noisy and you don't feel that you re standing at a holy place. the most positive experience is the trip by the truck that we took from the valley to go up to the mountain where the golden rock... The golden rock is amazing, very beautiful and well ground surrounding. however we have rains all the time we were there so we did not have any good photo, we could enjoy much more if weather permit.

A sacred place for Buddhism in Myanmar, well worth visiting. The hike up the mountain is strenuous but perhaps less nerve racking than truck.
