We were packed like sardines onto the back of an open truck which had 8 or 9 rows of too-narrow benches too close together, so those with long legs had to dip them under and downwards. They put 6 people per row, so there were around 50 per truck After a hot ten minutes in the sun we pulled into... More

When i went to Myanmar, i really wanted to visit the "golden rock" because i wanted to see if really it would appear like falling off the cliff and what seems to hold it.... and sure, it looks impossible and scary on some angles that the rock seems to be so glued on its present location when it could possibly... The little golden pagoda is up there on a golden rock hanging by a hair on another rock... There was mist, it was slippery walking bare feet on the marble...but we got close...so fortunate...

Stay the night as it is late afternoon/evening and early morning that it is at its sublime best. The rock glows and you can't help but be drawn into the atmosphere of this local place of pilgrimage. Accommodation at the top for foreigners is limited.

The rock itself was really immerse and impressive to me, but since the country was opened to the common tourist recently, there are not enough accommodations around. And during the more than an hour ride to the top of the stone, there were a lot of occasions that my heart skipped a beat with the road. Be prepared.

Have you seen the photos? It is what it is - a painted rock hanging on a cliff. Not worth the drive on its own, but a good stopover on the way south to Hpa An, Mawlmayine and beyond.

If you are staying in Yangon I highly recommend that you take in this attraction. The view is very beautiful and the truck ride was fun. When you get on the truck it pays to be "in the back but at the front" so you can stand up and look over the roof of the driver compartment. In order to... More

Must visit in Myanmar! It is safer to walk up all the way by enjoying the scenes and .. But some may enjoy the adventurous 4WD truck ride. Recommended to enjoy the sunset view which will be the most amazing moment for you! Enjoy the local food around the Temple.
