It was a different lake in that this wasn't just a lake as we are most use to, it is an agriculture lake in that the Chinese harvest the reeds that grow. There were paths through the reeds to a beach area with a food vendor/barbecue and tables.

Bosten Lake is a good 2 hour drive from Korla but worth the trip, though you'll have to hire a driver. The motorboat ride is lovely--through reed-lined canals to an island. The meal prepared by locals is way too expensive so we didn't have it.
