I've traveled to six continents and had a lot of great adventures, but trekking through the forest in Bukit Lawang--with orangutans, nosey monkeys, centipedes, succulent local fruit and a serious downpour tops it all. The guides were knowledgeable and fun to be with (albeit slightly condescending to my out-of-shape stepfather). Beware that the "relax in the jungle" tour actually requires... More

We could not stay at EcoTravel as it was fully booked, but Christina & Kembar has kindly helped to book us at another place nearby. They also helped plan and organize the trekking trip, as well as arranging some travel logistics, which included sending a car to 'rescue' us from a nearby village where our car engine broke down on... I booked a package in advance. The pick up from the airport and the transportation to Bukit Lawang went smooth. Unfortunately, I didn't stay at the EcoTravel Cottage the first night, instead they book me a room at their partners "Riverside Guesthouse". The jungle trek was amazing, not only because the jungle with its gigantic variety of wildlife is just... More

We didn't get to stay at the Eco-Lodge but we did do the Jungle Trek with them. They were great - Addi was a superb guide, knowledgeable and fun. The actual trek was hard work - much tougher than expected but very rewarding. This was the highlight of our trip to Northern Sumatra... If you are thinking about going skip... More

Probably the best place to stay in Bukit Lawang. Great Food, nice people, clean and pretty rooms. Offering nice packages around town. We did the jungle trek, white water rafting as well several others. Only thing I didnt like was the trip to the elephant riding location. Three hours through ugly palm oil plantations. Shows the tourists though what happens... More

The staff was great, the places and hotels were perfect, the activities were awesome, the price is interesting. It was just perfect, perfect, perfect. Thank you sooo much. You can trust them for your holidays. It was probably the best trip we ever had. The trek in the jungle was fantastic and the elephant riding really great. The places we... More

This was one of the most amazing weeks of our lives. Firstly we were picked up by a driver in Medan who drove us to the Eco cottages in Bukit Lawang, which was a beautiful European style building overlooking the river. The rooms had large memory foam beds, and all the staff were incredibly welcoming and were able to answer... More

We spent an amazing 11 days in Bukit Lawang with Kembar and his team at Sumatra EcoTravel and it was one of the true highlights of our round the world adventure. From the first contact via email to every detail during our stay the level of service exceeded expectations. We have 2 young children aged 8 and 7 and the... More

Excellent organization from the first mail contact to the last transport to Lake Toba. The room we had in EcoTravel Cottages was beautiful, spacious and clean. We were welcomed by friendly staff and our guide for the next days jungle trek Adi who explained everything. The trek itself was challenging but a fantastic adventure. Special Thanks to Adi, who is... More
