Breathe taking views and serene surroundings. Plenty of Birds, trees, flowers and eye soothing views. Do a lot of bargaining with boat guys. 1-2 hours cruise is enough for experience, instead of booking for a whole day or night stay.

The boats were very comfortable with 4 double rooms and a seating/dining area at the front. Very scenic with views of the bird life and local fishermen etc Well worth it - even had time to moor up and interact with the local people living at the lakeside.

This was my first time getting on a houseboat. What a lovely experience. Highly recommended if you are traveling to Kerala. Immerse yourself in the backwaters and enjoy the Kerala way of life watching locals ride on tiny boats to and fro for their daily needs & kids going to school, of course in boats too. Shopped at the fish... More

After an 8:30 pickup ar our hotel, the bus brought us to a small roadside store, where most of the party bought water and snacks for the trip. We were told to follow a rocky trail down to the river, where our boat waited. Wheelchair bound since breaking a foot, I was pushed by two young Israeli travelers. When we... More

We stayed in KTDC Waterscapes at Kumarkom. There is a boating point right next to it. We had planned not to stay overnight in houseboat as we had 2 toddlers and after a few hrs they get crazy for space to run etc. Also were not sure how safe it would be for kids to stay long. Another point we... More

Kerala backwaters are a very beautiful, serene and scenic experience if you do it at the right time of the day (due to it getting very hot in wrong months and in afternoons throughout the year). The best way to experience it is a 2-hr Shikara ride which you can rent near the Jetty. In Jan 2016, we paid Rs.... More
