We got up at 6am to watch the birds. The sanctuary has a nice wild life atmosphere. We walked 30 minutes until we got to a watch tower. The sun was rising and we could see some birds from far, nothing to write home about. If you come for the scenery and the walk you'll enjoy it but if you... More

As there is not much to do in Kumarkom beside relaxing and boating, if you are keen this Bird Sanctuary is good option. For people interested in bird watching, it is very nice place as lots of variety of birds can be seen if you are lucky and there at right time.

Nothing but just a trail walk. There definitely needs to be like an audio guide or a placard or some sort of organized service to help the bird watchers/ nature lovers.

This is a small bird sanctuary on the lake and approachable from the road. One has to walk around to see the birds. Can go there is you have spare time.

The bird sanctuary can be a disappointment depending on which time of the year you visit. We went in January and did not see many birds. You will see more birds during the boat ride on the lake. But the walk is good - takes about 45 mins to reach the end and another 45 mins to return. The walk... More

This is more like a jungle walk, but sadly there are no birds whatsoever! I managed to spot just one crow after about 1 hour of walking! I wouldn't advise people to waste time on this attraction. In fact, we went during peak birding season (since the next-door Vivanta by Taj was teeming with birds of every kind!) and still... More

Not a great recommendation in Kumarakom, unless you have loads of free time or a spare day in hand. If you are a nature enthusiast and want to go around the deep forest, yes its a good morning 2 to 3 km walk but carry an expectation of not to find birds to avoid any disappointment. Try to avoid walk... More

If you aren't an enthusiast about listening to birds, you can avoid this place. A paved road to walk on for about 2/3 kms through a hot jungle where you can see some patched of back-water and nothing else. Though if you wish to visit, please make it early in the morning as you'll for sure need to take a... More
