We reached too early i.e. around 6:15 AM in the morning. It was around 2 KM walk before we reached the watch tower. Go to the last watch tower and carry binoculars and be patient if you want to see the birds. The road was scary as we walk through kind a forest.

We went at the wrong time of day (11:00am). We were told this before we bought our tickets but decided to go for a walk anyway. Seemingly, we should have been there first thing when the centre opened. What birds you see will also depend on the time of year. Having said that, there's a nice little exhibition of bird... More

was not worth walking for 1 hour and see nothing. You have to be awake and make out species of bird if you really want to enjoy this sanctuary.Or give it a pass

Should go early morning to see the Birds. 6 am. later the Birds are sleeping. More information needed for Tourists. We were told we could go round in a loop, and there would be a cafe. NO you have to walk back the same way - NO cafe. The Hotel at the start of the tour is a good place... More

We have been there after visiting back water through boat. It's lush green area and situated just next to a back water . You can actually see a variety of birds and its paradise for bird watchers. A peace full and calm environment with sounds of beautiful & varieties of birds makes you happy. A must visit place in Kumarakom... More

Its a beautiful sight and definitely worth going to if you have time. Birds of several feathers make it a feast for the eyes. Make sure you take a good camera with a fast shutter to capture the action.

We could hear many birds but saw very few. We climbed Tower no. 2 (no 1 was closed) but the rainforest growth was so tall it obscured almost all sight of birds. Only a few egrets resting on tree-tops could be seen. But what really spoilt the outing for us was the disrespect of other visitors for nature. They were... More

we were staying inside the bird sanctuary and saw a wide variety of birds upfront as close as our room balcony and every time we passed through the mini canals of the resorts we would find a different bird sitting there
