We just walked around for a couple of kilometers in the month of August. It is a complimentary entry for those who stay at KTDC property. It is a thick wooded property and you find water canals and except for some butterflies we did not spot any birds. As it is not a season to watch birds ,but a quite experience.

This was suppose to be a good place but unfortunately visiting this place in Sept is like a desert. The best time to see this place is Feb to July..... It was just a plain 3 Kms walk with you partner in the green forest. yes off season you can see few birds like the eagle and duck and crow... More

We visited the sanctuary on 16 Sep 14 between 0745 to 0915 as we were staying at Club Mahindra Resort Kumarakom. Prior buying ticket (Rs 50 per person and 25/ for parking) itself the staff at counter mentioned that we will hardly see any birds. We had good morning walk for 4 km(two km either way) We encountered just one... More

We went for the bird sanctuary since we were staying in Waterscapes, but I guess it was not the seasons for them, at least we could not locate a single bird inside the sanctuary, we came back mid-way and did not walk till the bird watching tower. But it is a nice green place if you are a nature lover.... More

We went to the bird sanctuary in Kumarakom just after the monsoon had ended. It's a pleasant walk of about two kilometer one way (four kilometer return). There were fortunately not too many noisy locals, only a few scaring away the animals. Apart from several different species of butterflies and mushrooms, we saw monitor lizards (on the ground and in... More

As suggeted in The Grove Hotel (short way from our hotel), we went first time in the morning and enjoyed it. Very near we could take a ferry to muhamma crossing the Vembanad Lake for a few rupees.

Only saw two types of birds. The walk is 2 km one way. It was all muddy because of the rains. If there is no rain the walk is nice. In non monsoons season, it seems they take you through a small boat, that might be more interesting to do.

Nice bird sanctuary for bird lovers. Also we can see backwaters and the lake. Nice location, honeymoon travelers can try for the ride in boat. Friendly staff and there is very less crowd, so we can enjoy a lot.

We visited here in August and truly disappointing seen nothing and just wasted our time and money. We walked 4 kms to and back but just seen butterfly and nothing else. They say you can watch many things from tower but that was also closed. Better stay and hotel and enjoy there instead of visitng this place every travel company... More
