it is located just near the lake by the side of Vivanta by Taj. If you are taking a boat cruise/ house boat cruise you can get glimpse of more birds than in this sanctuary. It is a waste of time and money.

A bit of sweaty tiring bouring 2.5 kms walk thru never ending forest, then climb 2 storey tower to get a heavenly view of rare migratory birds 100s in number. Worth a visit must not be missed.

We started very early in the morning with our guide and walked through the sanctuary. We did not see too many birds but loved the walk through the sanctuary. Then we came to a point from where we took a small boat and went around the sanctuary and it was a good ride and could watch a beautiful sunrise.

It's near the Govt. Boat Jetty & Taj Vivanta hotel, Kumarakom. You have to walk 4 kms up & down to reach the view-point.Though the stretch of 4 km jungle walk is rereshing, some people ind it exhaustive & at the end if you are lucky you can spot a bird. That's all.

Need to have a very good Tele lens to see the birds. All of them are at a distance of 500ft from the watch tower. The 4 km walk thru the jungle to the watch tower can be refreshing.

The Kumarakom Bird sanctuary is nearly six kilometers from the Govt. Boat jetty and next to the Taj Vivanta, Kumarakom. It houses the KTDC resort - Waterscapes. With an entry-fee of INR 50 per head, and a guide cost of INR 300 [optional], it's totally worth visiting the sanctuary. The farthest watch tower, about 3 kms. walk from the entrance,... More

We woke up as early birds do and caught an auto from 'The Grove'. There was a 2.5 km walk inside a lush green forest area. Placed at strategic points there were watch towers. I was informed that only 2 of the towers were open. On the way trudging across on near empty stomach and with my two sons exclaiming... More

Just next to the Taj Kumarakom property. I did not spot any birds but enjoyed the two hour walk. Worth an early morning visit.
