Sailing on the Vembanad lake and the backwaters of Kumarakom on a houseboat is an experience no traveler to Kerala should miss. In the evening, you have ample scope for taking awesome photographs thanks to the play of colors in the sky when the sun is receding. I would recommend booking an overnight trip, which is more fun.

You really feel that you are in God's own Country! Calm and cool waters with so many birds and vegetation all around. Houseboats make you look like in heaven. Its an out of this world experience.

We did a day trip in the house boat and I should say that our trip to Kerala would not have been complete without a trip like this. The backwaters were beautiful. We were lucky to have a bright and sunny day. There was some excellent food served on the boat. I am not sure about the name but the... More

Lakes are huge and scenic. Avoid the houseboats if it is raining. Kids specially might be frightened due to the waves and rocking.

sail in a house boat through Vembanad lake is an amazing experience. You need to spend a complete day to feel her beauty, because she is more beautiful at night. Never miss a day in House Boat.

A house boat sounded great anyway. So took the advise of friends and decided to go for one. It took us to the whole day to go around the lake and check out other places. we were taken to a place in the lake where you can see three districts or islands of the state from that point of the... More

It was a amazing experience to see a huge space of water that is not a sea. It stretching along 2-3 districts and longest lake in india. We had a shikar boat ride for an hour which travels at a pace of 10 to 15 kmph, we passed thru backwaters with glance of village and village people and their life... More

We experienced this lake and its backwaters via Alleppy, when we rented a 'shikara' by the hour for four hours. The lake was beautiful - watching varied birds on this lake, also the handsome houseboats cruising or anchored. It was enjoyable passing local houses located just at the bank of narrow canals where ladies were fishing for their meals, young... More
