They had interesting quality items, however I have to agree it was QUITE pricey. I feel its important to support local artists and businesses, so I really wish there had been a few more less expensive items to choose from.

What a collection of quilts and pottery. We have seen many quilts as my wife is an avid quilter but nothing like this in a rather remote small sized shop. The art work was displayed on the walls, over railings and the shelves were loaded with some of the most beautiful marine themed pottery pieces you could imagine. We would... More

My husband and i traveled thru the Cape Breton Highland ,which was absolutely beautiful ! Nestles in a little village of Dingwall was an amazing little craters cottage . My first instinct was i want one of everything ,much to my husbands dismay ha ha . The pottery was nothing like i've seen before absolutely beautiful ! And a little... More

I first went to Arts North when I was a student in 1999. I couldn't afford anything then but I couldn't afford much "extra" anywhere at that time. I went back in 2007, when out of student debt, and purchased a tea pot and a set of 4 mugs and a couple "beer mugs" which are used by me for... More

We visited the Cabot Trail in October 2012. Of all the artisans we visited this was the best by far. We bought a beautiful vase while there which was shipped to our home in South Carolina. Everything in the shop was of superior quality. We later order a second whale motif vase. The Artists/owners are delightful to work with !!... More

Like most other reviewers I appreciated the high quality and beautiful workmanship in the items offered here. The pottery is the main thing displayed, but there are also cutting boards, textiles and other locally-made products. Certainly worth a stop if you are in the market for well-made craft items. I enjoyed looking and found several pieces I could not resist... More

It started well with hummingbirds feeding just of the boardwalk coming in to the shop. This is the place for high quality stuff. If you need 10 low cost souvenirs for the grandchildren, this is not the place; if you are looking for a drop dead gorgeous item, for a single special person, you are at the right place. Works... I love this shop and so do the majority of my family and friends. I love it so much, that it was featured in one of my first blogs, "Wanderings at the Top of Nova Scotia." Some people might call it pricey, but at Arts North one is purchasing items created by Cape Breton Artisans. Literally, everything in Arts North... More

There are lots of gift shops on Cape Breton, most of which are worth a look-see. Take my word for it, though -- Arts North is a stand-out. This shop features many of the Island's most gifted artists and artisans, with enough selection to please anyone who might be on the look out for that extra special birthday or Christmas... More
