It would have been a perfect afternoon, had it not been for the threatening lightning storm sweeping around the Cape Breton Highland hills. We were out on the water with Michael, heading for the mouth of the harbour and enjoying the opportunity to kayak in near perfect conditions. This is a magnificent place to do this. But Michael and his... More

Myself and my son did the half day sea kayaking and half day cycling in August, and It was the highlight of our trip to Cape Breton. Michael was a great guide with just the right mix of information and anecdotes. Jennifer's oatcakes were superb and their children are delightful, such a lovely family and very welcoming. The equipment is... More

Tucked away in a charming spot on the north shore of Cape Breton, the highlight of our 10 day car trip was an afternoon with Michael and Jen. Made us feel right at home in the bay and stopped along the way to share stories and insights. We got a real sense of the region and lifestyle from them and... More

My wife and I (mid-60s) really enjoyed our time with Michael. Anyone can do this and he is very safety conscious. In fact, the ocean surf was up a bit our day with him and he kept us in the calm Espy Bay. It would have been a five If we (I) could have gotten out on the ocean but... More

Had a great hour on the water. The weather was a bit rough on us, but we felt very safe as Mike and Aidan were very attentive. I would happily get in a kayak again in spite of the struggle we had to get past the cormorant island. Thankfully Mike was there with a towing clip.

Mike gave us and excellent tour. Due to weather of the day we could not exit the harbour. This did not stop Mike from finding many sights and experiences for us to enjoy. Definitely a place to try.

My wife and I did an afternoon three hour tour with Michael and were thrilled with the experience. The paddle around South Harbour was a good warm up and informative, the break on the beach was beautiful and the rest of it was challenging but rewarding. Michael guided the tour in a very professional but welcoming manner. We hope to... More

Michael was a great guide. He was very attentive to giving instructions about safe kayaking in a variety of situations. My husband and I were impressed by his knowledge of the area and his experience as a guide. His passion for outdoor and sustainable responsible living were quite evident.

Cabot Trail Adventures is the new name for this business. We had an excellent 3 day package with Jen and Michael staying at the hideaway summerhouse (beautiful early 1900's cottage) - hiking, kayaking and cycling plus whale watching with Oshan. Fantastic guiding with information on wildlife, geology and local history. Highlight of our Nova Scotia trip. Both Jen and Michael... More
