The host of 12 New Zealand Opens, Paraparaumu Beach Golf Course has long been regarded by many as the spiritual home of New Zealand Golf. Some of the biggest names in the sport have graced these fairways, from Gary Player and five-time Open Championship winner Peter Thompson through to Corey Pavin, Michael Campbell and in 2002 the worlds number 1 golfer, Tiger Woods.Designed in 1949 by Alex Russell, whose design credits include the world-famous Royal Melbourne golf course, Paraparaumu Beach is considered one of the best links courses in the Southern Hemisphere. Modeled on some of the best links courses of Britain and Ireland, the challenging layout threads its way through magnificent linksland just north of Wellington, and once you’ve experienced it, you’ll understand just why golf played at Paraparaumu Beach Golf Course is golf at its purest.

The course was in outstanding condition and the staff at the course were friendly and attentive. This is a tough links course for the serious golfer, however the staff were happy for less accomplished golfers to test their skills. All in all a great afternoon capped off with a refreshing ale in the club house afterwards.

Good links course on the Kapiti Coast. Helpful staff and very welcoming members who are proud to show you their course.

Management and staff must waken up to the fact that this is no longer a top class golf venue !!!!! Course itself is very tired and requires a considerable amount of improvements. It needs money spent on it as does the Clubhouse, which to say the least was basic as well as the catering side. Pro shop staff more interested... More

Formerly a great course and site of several New Zealand Opens. The layout is a fair test, and the greens were as good as we found across New Zealand (both islands!). However, the fairways and facility were a bit "tired" and under-maintained.

These guys have got their act together. Following a few years of a clearly tough time after hosting the open, this is better than I have seen it since the "Open". It will challenge any level of Golfer - remember it was the first Course Tiger four putted on after he turned Pro! The pro-shop is helpful and welcoming -... More

An excellent golf course; friendly staff; and, an up to date clubhouse. We played between showers on a rainy day. The fairways were still firm and the greens well manicured. Although there are few trees, straight tee shots are needed to score well. Even then, challenging lies and delicate putts await. We loved it.

Most of the great golfers have played here and all have been challenged. It's a pleasant venue.

This course is challenging, well laid out and quite different from the more sedate golf courses
