Southwards has some interesting and novel cars. I enjoyed going there as a kid, and still found it interesting as an adult. It won't be of much interest to those who don't enjoy things mechanical. The major sticking point is the price, for me they could be a bit more generous with their pricing.

A world class attraction. The largest private collection of cars, and transport memorabilia in the Southern Hemisphere. A great place to spend a few hours with family, and friends right here on the Kapiti Coast

Well worth a visit !!! We came upon this by chance and it turned out to be one of the most interesting car exhibitions out of all the ones we visited in New Zealand.

All cars shown have been restored and bought in one-owner condition. Arranged chronologically, so quite instructive. Entry fee of $13 is a bargain.

We visited the Southward Car Museum on 2 March when they held an "Open House". As well as giving access to the 400 cars on permanent display we were able to visit the workshops and storage rooms where we saw around 30-40 cars and bikes awaiting restoration. Among the cars displayed were a very rare 1930 Alfa Romeo 6C 1750... More

I reluctantly followed my husband into to the car museum. Well I am so glad I did. It is a large museum with just about every model car made. There is another floor below full of cars as well. I recognised several models & enjoyed the description & stories of some of them, especially the Mercedes that Hitler had especially... More

Nice open space with loads of interesting cars, motorbikes and other bits n pieces. Quite the place to reminisce. A Kapiti ice cream in the sun afterwards topped off a good afternoon.

Very well lit and spacious for taking photos and generally wandering around. A fun few hrs reading info cards for cars that peaked my interest. Reminded me of many a different movie with one or another of the cars. Collections were a bit left field but interesting nonetheless. Coffee was good too....

Even if you don't particularly like cars, I would think you would enjoy this museum. It has an amazing collection.
