We live only 1 1/2 hours away from this local ski resort, and go almost every year, wether for a day trip, or if the weather is good, a couple of days. Lift tickets are not that expensive and it gets you along the whole mountain! You could spend a day just getting from one side to another! My daughter... More

If you want to take the gondola to Le Pic du midi and it's April/May, make sure you ring or go to tourist bureau in Bagneres to check if the gondolas are working. They do maintenance at that time of year and we got caught out. You would think there would be a sign on the road letting you know!

Friendly small ski resort under the pic du midi. Quiet in October, but staff at restos still very helpful. Petite et charmant. Tranquil en Octobre, néanmoins, le restos tres sympa et pas trop cher. Bon etape avant ascendre Pic du Midi

Not a lot to say about this ski resort. In summer the cable car to the Pic du Midi runs through the day. You can stay up there overnight with guided visits to the observatory. The restaurant offers basic food and on a good day the views are superb. It is said that on a clear day you can see... More

Despite checking the website the cable car to the Pic du Midi was closed when we arrived. The whole resort was like a ghost town, be aware of you are booking accommodation here as there is no where to eat!!

We went to La Mongie to get to the Pic du Midi on public transport, the journey took about an hour from Tarbes, but was worth it, the scenery was breathtaking and the cafes and bars were reasonably priced (for a ski resort)

The Pyrenees are a great alternative to the Alps. La Mongie and Bareges make up Tourmalet, the largest ski area in the French Pyrenees...great for every level of skier and with a great snow record. Fly to Toulouse and 1 hour 45mins later you're there. Stay in the Campan Valley and drive up to La Mongie or stay the other... More
