A true landmark, well preserved so far and very interesting. However the big ballroom was hired out and couldn't be visited. Parts of the castle seem to be in a bit of disrepair, a thing that affects many monuments nowadays in Romania. The surroundings are a wasteland which do no justice to such a monument.

By far one of the most interesting castles in the world. This 15th century fort is definitely worth the detour to Hunedoara, especially if you can time it during one of the many medieval themed events there. I've visited castles all over Europe yet this one, aesthetically, remains my favourite. It's simply breath-taking, well preserved, with lots of rooms and... More

If you want to live for a moment the life from some hundred years ago, this is the place you should be. Beautiful stories written on the walls.

My favorite castle! Like a fairy tale. Been there twice now. They were holding a 5 day run of La Traviata. What a perfect setting! The informational signs are plentiful and in English and Romanian. Also make sure when in Hunedoara that you drive by the area of spectacular gypsy houses.

Like so many places in Europe, this place is known by various names including Hanyard Castle and Corvin Castle. Hunyard Castle is described as Romania's most impressive Gothic castle. It has plenty of wow factor - nice setting near the top of a hill, tall towers with steep peaked roofs, solid stonework construction, passageways, parapets, wine cellar, banquet rooms, etc.... More

Corvin Castle, also known as Hunyad's Castle. Beautiful castle, which is allegedly one of the most haunted places in Europe. And that isn't surprising with some of the awful stories that go with it! Vlad the Impaler was allegedly held here as a prisoner. There is a bear pit in the castle where the king used to keep live bears... More

This is no luxury estate for the pampered Aristocrat. It is an authentic medieval fortress with a brooding atmosphere and a blood soaked past. It's massive labyrinth of halls and rooms beckon you to centuries past. A castle whose history was filled with political intrigue in a landscape ubiquitous with brutal warfare.

We spent a couple of hours exploring the castle, there's so much to see, its not grand and stately home like at all, its just how you would have imagined a six hundred year old castle to be. enormous halls, lots of steep steps to climb and great views from the top. also there was a man playing a very... The castle is very big (much bigger than Bran castle), with lots of rooms and corridors, halls and balconies with beautiful views. It is a place full of history. The only minus is that it doesn't have enough furniture, most of the rooms are almost empty, so it is harder to feel the medieval athmosphere. Everyone must take a guided... More
