Car park attendant not very happy must have been one of her 'off' days.Plenty of room to park, easy walking distance from the entrance to the Llechwedd building.Upon entrance, the lady at the till was very nice and pleasant but it was not made clear where the underground tour was,so we were stood waiting by the entrance to having a suit to... Enlightening as to how it used to be for slate miners and their sons. How they did it I don't know. Tour gave me a pain in the neck - I'm 6 ft tall - definitely a job for short people. Thank goodness for the hard hat.A little expensive for the experience.Pastie in cafe tasty.

We visited on a wet and windy day. The site was quiet but it is well worth visiting. The deep mine tour was fascinating and our 6 year old loved it. The tour guide was passionate about the mine and the local history. The caverns themselves were mind blowing especially when lit in the way they were. My only criticism... More

Me and my husband visited the mines on 31.10.14. We had just missed the one tour but rather than keep us waiting for the next one we were given a tour straight away with another couple. Paul our guide was excellent - very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. The tour was really fascinating with vivid descriptions of the lives of the miners.... More

Excellent tour of the slate mines. Good customer services throughout the tour. Simons interaction with all ages throughout the tour was commendable. The younger members of the tour were included at all stages of the hour long tour. Well worth the money. Excellent cake and coffee in the cafe. Well done.

Viisted the mines during October half term with my husband, mum and 10 year old son. It was relatively quiet. The attraction appears to have grown recently with surrounding activities such as trampolining underground and zip line fun (we did not do these as pre booking was advised). We paid for our tickets (£47 in total, concessionaries for students and... More

Hadn't been here for years so was looking forward to a visit. Went during summer holidays so was expecting bedlam but it wasn't too bad. However, tour guide left a little to be desired down the mind, was clearly bored and fed up of doing the same old tour over and over again. The slate making demonstration was very good... More

Although our mine train was full when we showed up for our tour, they laid on a second tour just for six of us who didn’t fit onto the train first time round. The tour is very atmospheric with a combination of tour guide and pre-recorded commentary. You get a real sense of the harsh environment these quarrymen had to... More

Had a great day at the slate mines. We started with Jump, fantastic fun, you do need to be fairly fit though if you want to get then oust out of it. Watching th slate being worked and learning about what life was like was very interesting. Wish I had done the zip wire as well!
