Had a great day at the slate mines. We started with Jump, fantastic fun, you do need to be fairly fit though if you want to get then oust out of it. Watching th slate being worked and learning about what life was like was very interesting. Wish I had done the zip wire as well!

Llechwedd Slate Caverns really is an attraction within an attraction! What I really like about Llechwedd is it's ability to be as much of an interesting indoor attraction as well as an outdoor one. The charming Victorian Village complete with it's shops/ pubs and houses really have had a lot of thought put into them. With the restaurant offering great... More

If your not going for thrills forget it, even the zips wires are rather expensive for just a few seconds of thrills. As far as the Victorian Emporium its a gift shop and not a very imaginative one at that, the slate splitting was a rushed two minute affair and the exhibition your not going to learn much than the... A highly informative and well organised tour. Phil and Richard, our guides had personal experiences to share, having had fathers, grandfathers and great-grandfathers working in the local quarries. It made the history very real. Highly recommended.

The caverns are 350 ft under ground and very cold and wet. Take stout footwear. This is not a place for the unsteady. Great history as our guide's grandmother was born on the site. Blaenau has dark mountains of waste slate so the town is over shadowed by the history. Funny that you put slate on your roof to keep... More

Like many other visitors we headed underground at Llechwedd on a wet afternoon. The one hour tour is reasonable value at £14.95 for an adult. A short ride on a funicular railway takes you 250 feet down to the caverns. The walking tour is conducted mostly in darkness with limited safety lighting along the passageways linking the slate caverns. The... More

We visited primarily to do Bounce Below, which is billed as the largest underground trampoline. It was crazy, but so good and definitely worth the £20 entrance fee. You get an hour of jumping and sliding around massive nets suspended in a huge cavern. And you can do it as an adult without having to have a child in tow.... More
