Tom knows his whales, ecology, boats, and safety. You can rest assured that you will have an amazing experience and be safe. He even provides high quality dry suits that will keep you warm in the cold bay breezes. We've been doing whale watches with him for over 20 years, and no other company makes it as personal and fun.... More

We were in Nova Scotia for 12 days, and this was the only day with bad weather - fog! Tom did his best to find whales, but after 2.5 hours we saw a few seals but no whales. It was raining on land and there was lightning and very loud thunder claps but no whales! Then Tom called some friends,... More

Thank you very much for this great review! ... I just read it, alerted to a new review that just arrived. Well said. .... it is a constant struggle in marketing, especially involving wildlife .... you want to 'sell' but not lead to unrealistic expectations. Everyone expects when you see a tropical resort in sunshine, that it might rain. People... More

Oceab Explorations Whale Cruises in Tiverton Nova Scotia is by far the best whale watching cruise we have been on yet ( have gone 3 other times, different locations). Our "captain" was Tom - who happens to be an Oceanography and Marine Biologist. The day we went out was a bit foggy and fairly windy. We felt completely safe and... More

We knew right away, when we mentioned our next mornings whale watch with Tom to our hotel bartender and he replied with "I can promise you 100% you'll see whales. No one has ever reported back to me they didn't see whales on this tour!" that we chose the right guy for us! The Zodiak, although it might seem scary... More

A great experience! As a solo traveler I enjoyed that we were a small group, only 9 plus our Captain Tom. It was a very sunny day but windy which meant it was touch and go as to whether the tour would happen, in the Bay of Fundy the waves can get very high and we were advised, by Tom,... More

We keep telling our friends that this adventure with Ocean Explorations was the highlight of our month-long trip to Nova Scotia! It was a life-altering, absolutely breathtaking experience. We were expecting to see a couple spouting whales in the distance, if we were lucky. Instead, we were greeted to up to a dozen humpbacks at close range, some actually swimming... More

After a lot of research to find the best place to whale watch, Ocean Explorations was the tour we decided to go with. We had the most amazing time. Tom is very knowledgeable and makes you feel safe the entire ride. It did get a little rough, as the tide was coming in but what was discovered after it calmed... More

My husband and I took this whale cruise while vacationing in Nova Scotia. Unfortunately, the water was very choppy and, since it was in the early afternoon, the whales had already started heading out. So, Captain Tom had to move extremely quickly so we could catch some whales. This resulted in a VERY ROUGH ride. I have never gotten sea... More

Thanks for taking the time to write a review and pointing out some of the (nature) difficulties that occur sometimes. The whales DO move around the bay a lot ... and sometimes they are further away than others. Sometimes they swim against the tide and don't move much, other times if they are swimming WITH the tide they can get... More

Captain Tom is amazing and works very hard to make sure you see the whales up close and personal. The Zodiac tour is the best way to whale watch. We had such a great time on the 12:30 tour, we decided to go out again on the 3:30 tour! Unbelievable experience!

Whether I am taking my students, family members, or friends, every zodiac excursion with Captain Tom has been phenomenal. He strives to deliver the best experience for his passengers. He strikes the perfect balance between fun and education with his extensive experience and marine biology knowledge. HIs zodiac and survival flotation suits are in top notch condition and makes sure... More
