A great way to see the scenic fjords and valleys around this very pretty area. We had a coach ride up the mountain to Rauma then caught the train back to Andalesnes a very pleasant way to spend the morning and we were very lucky it was not raining according to our guide as it rains 265 days a year... arrived by cruise ship and walked across town to the rail station. caught the train to bjorli and return {500krone ) some lovely scenery although Scotland and the lake district plus woodhead pass are very similar. back in ANDALSNES the cafes were packed so decided to venture like a local. found a small café behind a row of shops. it... I have taken this journey several times, during my guiding for the Cruise Ships. Great views espically of Trollvegen / Troll Wall. But, during the winter season the train does not stop/slow down at the wall & bridge. This is an extra 5 minutes, which the NSB cuts out during the winter season. Otherwise great service from the NSB staff... More

We were on a cruise stop for a day ( Sunday) in Andalsnes which was tiny and mostly shut. luckily we had booked with the ship a coach and rail trip . We travelled up past the troll wall which was amazing and up to the top station about 1 and 1/2 hours away to catch the train back .... More

The Rauma Rail runs between Andalsness and Dombas. You can have a connecting train to Oslo from here. Scenic ride as a mode of transports gives a superb combination. This gives an opportunity to experience the stunning beauty of nature deep down the interiors which thru roadways would be difficult. Norway is truly incredible need to have money and time... More

On my way to Oslo I was lucky and got a seat on one of the trips the train does with large tour-groups. We stopped for photo-sessions on the way and got some great views. I have also taken this train in the winter and it´s then nothing special bout it. The mountains in Åndalsnes is massive and there is... More

We used our Euro train pass to ride the Rauma Railway otherwise we would have been a little disappointed with the cost of the trip. We boarded the train at Åndalsnes, best side to sit would be the right side and alighted at Dombas. During the first half of the trip (3/4 hour) the scenery was spectacular the rest of... More

Perhaps I was expecting too much, but my journey from Andalsnes to Bjorli and back on the Rauma railway in early June left me totally unimpressed. Yes there are some nice views over the valley, and you get to see a small waterfall from real close and a few other waterfalls in the distance, but it's nothing you couldn't see... More

We started at Dombas having come on the main line from Trondheim (also scenic but not so dramatic.) Walked the few hundred yards into the town where there was a bakery, supermarket and cafes to stock up (no food on the train) The train was specially built with large windows to make the most of the views as the line... Went By Coach from Andalsnes to Bjorli stopping at the Troll wall visitors centre, Slettafossen and then following the Rauma river. We then boarded the train which follows the river down into the valley and at its wildest point near the Kylling Bridge Waterfall back through the mountains seeing the breathtaking Vermafossen falls 381 Metres high breath taking scenery. The... More
