We took this train from Dombas to Andalsnes, and was a nice scenic enchanting journey through forests, meadows, bridges over gurgling brooks, snow capped peaks and cliffs.. typical norwegian scenery. Although I would hesitate to rate it as one of the most scenic train journeys, I secretly feel that the Oslo-Bergen stretch surpasses this journey in that respect. But the... More

This is a very scenic train ride - mountains, valleys, the Troll Wall and bridges over the rushing river. It has lovely locos, well presented carriages and a suitable amount of information from the guide over the p.a. system. The train takes about an hour to wind its was down from Rauma to Andalsnes though tunnels - one with 360... More

We went on the Rauma Railway as part of a trip on a cruise around the Fjords. The scenery was spectacular and the guide on the train pointed out all the main points of interest over a p.a. system. We went the mountains by train, and returned by coach, with around 1/2 hour free time to wander around before the... More

During summer there is guiding on this train, so it is very nice for tourists, but unfortunately there is a lot of woods near the train tracks so the view has been somewhat limited, there has been some initiative to remove some parts to better the view at the most spectacular places.

The most beautiful train journey. It waits for the passengers coming from Oslo and Trondheim at Dombas. A trip on the Rauma Railway offers passengers a unique opportunity to experience one of Norway’s most spectacular natural regions - everything from mountainsides, valley, river, bridges, horseshoe tunnels and national parks with live commentary and small book of descriptions. It is 1hr... More

Really enjoyed this journey, lovely scenery. You can book your seat but do buy early so you can get a window seat. There is a really good commentary along the way and the train will slow down so you can take photographs at particular sites. Andalsnes is quiet town and is a stop off for cruise ships so it can... We took the very pleasant 90 minute journey fromn Dombas to Andalsnes. We were lucky enough to get perfect sunny weather and the scenery was fantastic so much so that the journey seemed to go by very quickly. Would definitely recommend this train journey.

If you are coming to Norway and wanting to experience some exceptional scenery on a train, this is the one to do! We did this and the Flåmsbana (Flåm Railway) during our EU Rail Pass travels through Europe and can definitely say the scenery and views on here far surpass that of the better-known southerner. Best of all, it's free... More

About 1h journey by train, the first part was absolutely amazing! Maybe better than the railway from Oslo to Bergen and Myrdal-flam too . The final part in the dombas area maybe is not so wonderful. By the way a fantastic journey! I really appreciate the laptop free to use in Andalsnes station !!! The train chapel is nice too
