Went to Skomer Island to photograph the puffins for the third time it was well worth the trip. The puffins land within feet of you and you can't fail in getting good pictures, boat journey was a bit cramped.

We took the boat ride around Skomer Island. Firstly, we took the trip in August which isn't a great time to go around Skomer because all the puffins have gone - however, we knew this and were interested to see the island anyway. The boat was full to bursting with people making for a rather uncomfortable trip and resulting in... More

We've had a lovely day at Skomer with our children aged 3 and 6. The ticket system works well but you should get there early to avoid disappointment. The ice cream at Lockley Lodge was £2:40 for a small tub which is too expensive. The boat ride was excellent and as it was a very calm day it was easy... More

This is well worth the trip. We were pleased to see puffins at the end of July and enjoyed the fabulous views. Look out for swallows nesting in loos in the middle of the island.

Any trip to Skomer is special, but we stayed overnight in the basic but perfectly clean and adequate facilties. Once all the day trippers have left there are only the dozen or so over-nighters on the island and this makes it extremely special. Well worth having to book it months in advance. We strongly recommend it.

We arrived before 8am on 1 August to catch the ferry across to the Island - we could have left it later as the office didn't open until 8.30am and it wasn't busy. However it was well worth the wait for the 10am ferry across to Skomer. We were so lucky that the puffins were still there and it was... More

What a fantastic day out, we enjoyed every part of it. We found the payment system slightly confusing as the landing tickets to get on to the island are purchased in the shop on the mainland, with the boat tickets paid for on board the boat. Make sure you have enough cash with you, as this is the best way... More

We came to Pembrokeshire specifically for this visit, but because of high winds the boat to the island didn't run on any of the days we were booked to stay. So we extended our stay by a night: so glad we did. Skomer is a wonderful 'back-to-nature' experience, and allows you to get close to the wildlife without disturbing the... More

We went mid July wanting to see Puffins and now I have seen thousands. We did the cruise as I did not think the kids would last the distance all day on the island. You have to get in early to book the cruise but even earlier to book the day trips to the island. Well worth it though. The... More

We took the 'Puffins and Seabird' Skomer Island trip with 100 Island Expeditions in the afternoon as our original morning 'Whale and Dolphin' trip had been cancelled due to atrocious weather. Cindy in the main office was very helpful and got us booked on this one. You leave from St Justinians Lifeboat Station where you are greeted and guided by... More
