We enjoyed our tour of this castle. We were able to take our dog, so that was awesome and we were able to buy tickets here for both the Marqueyssac gardens as well as the chateau. For weapons admirers there is plenty to see. More

My husband loved this. It's very interactive and even does a demonstration of a catapult. The demonstrations and displays are heavy on weaponry though, so you won't be learning much about daily life or history in general. Kinda specialized. Great area. More

We visited with a combo ticket to Castlenaud and the Gardens of Marqueyssac, which saves about 2 Euros. This is a great place for families to visit, especially those with older children who enjoy medieval history. Museum is full of treasures; medieval armor, weapons, models and working catapults. They put on "animations" of the catapults actually working, have a dress... More

Castelnaud is a splendid castle high up overlooking the Dordogne river between two beautiful towns,Domme and Beynac . The castle has magnificent views across the surrounding countryside, and to Castle Beynac standing across the Dordogne River. Well worth a visit, both for the beauty of the building and the views, but also for the history and the wonderful things on... More

If you want to know any information on medieval weaponry, including catapults, this is the place to go! The private collection shows all types of brutal, almost barbaric, forms of weapons used during its turbulent history. We spent the day at Chateau de Castelnaud (after having a picnic lunch by the river), then we slowly hiked up to the castle... More

There are two castles very close to each other; 10 - 15 minutes apart. This one and one in Beynac. See the one in Beynac first. It's not as impressive but still worth visiting. I have been to a lot of places in Southern France and I'd have to put Castelnaud second behind Rocamadour on my list of favorites. The... More

Very nice chateau with lots of history. Interesting for all ages. You should also walk in the village and also to the view point where a cross is. More
