Superb links course in excellent condition and well worthy of hosting the upcoming major competition. The members and staff are very friendly and some of the memorabilia in the Clubhouse is fascinating. The building itself is an eclectic and unusual mix but the bar snacks are not up to the standard of everything else.

The course, even after a rough winter, was in great shape and a pleasure to play. The staff were friendly and helpful and I will definitely be returning

Royal Porthcawl is a great links course, head and shoulders above anything else in Wales. This is also true for the quality of the changing rooms, bar etc, but sadly not the food, which is more average golfclub fare. You do pay for the pleasure and they insist on full payment rather the usual deposit when you book, just like... More

Manicured greens and faiways with many hidden bunkers. Pro very helpful, food pretty good. Would not recommend the Dormy accomadation. Looked very uninviting. Try the Rose and Crown

What a wonderful experience I had at this amazing natural beauty. I can see why the 2015 Senior Open Championship is to be played here. This undoubtedly was the highlight of my Wales golf odyssey . The pro shop staff were very friendly and helpful. The condition of the course was 1st class. Whilst the clubhouse is not huge it... More

If you can only play one round of golf, this is the choice. A great links course, very challenging and a good test of golf.

I played this course in September 2013. This is a great choice in Wales. The track is terrific with challenging holes, excellent greens and terrific layout. The pro shop attendant was very friendly. Unfortunately I did not get to play with local Welshmen but did play with a fellow Canadians which were terrific company and made the afternoon very pleasant.... More

3 of us played the course with caddies, which is a must for golfers not used to links courses. We met the pro, Peter Evans, who was very friendly. My caddy had played at Louisiana Tech and was a +2. He had also been club champion twice. Jonathan was very helpful. I found 3 birdies even though my back was hurting... More

Challenging course but absolutely fantastic. Lost lots of balls, but enjoyed every minute. I hope to play again sometime soon!
