Decided to pay a visit and did not regret though I wish the sun is more helpful on the day I was there ;o( Generally an easy walk via available wooden staircase though you have to watch out at certain part where the staircase is not properly maintained. Need not ride a donkey up...slowly walk up and you will reach... More

In a refreshing departure from our usual experiences with tourist attractions in China, we arrived at the White Water Terraces (白水台) around 9am to find we had the place to ourselves! There were a few local Naxi villagers walking up the hill, which we would meet later on, but walking up and exploring the terraces was a thoroughly peaceful experience.... More

The Bai Shui Tai (White Water Terraces) is a gorgeous natural terrace with beautiful cliff side pools. The steps in the park there are really horrible and not maintained well for whatever reason unlike so many other attractions in Yunnan. Yet the actual white water terraces themselves are so gorgeous and just so picturesque. As this location is not too... More

The Baishui Terraces (Baishutai) are a series of pools formed by mineral rich water (mostly calcium) flowing roughly 130 meters down the side of a mountain. The pools and side of the mountain have formed hardened mineral pools making the side of the mountain look a creamish white. The light striking the pools gives off an amazing blue color (some... Beautiful place, only 15-20 min walk, although some stairs were unsafe. Not necessary to take horses. Cost 30 rmb per person. Not protected well since you can walk just about anyplace. Good time of year to go, we only saw 3 people there the same time as us. Good to do either from Lijiang on a day trip or from... More

to be honest the "Tettaces" is very beautiful but the best part about the scenery is the actual mountain view from the area. One of the most beautiful sceneries in Shangri-La area. You can actual walk up the staircase or get a horseback ride for a small fee. I tried riding the horse but felt kind of bad for the... More

Set among forest, this white water terraces are worth the long journey from Shangrila. You can walk on the terraces and to the back where there are sacred springs.

The white water terraces (白水台)are quite remarkable and beautiful. A short walk up from the main road leads you to multiple pools formed naturally by the deposition of calcium. It is a 3 hour drive from Shangri-la, but is a natural stopping point if you are taking the back road from Tiger Leaping Gorge to Shangrila via Haba.

The terraces are a good 2.5 hour drive from Shangri la. The scenery is spectacular, but the road is winding and can give one motion sickness. Our guide engaged the ponies for a 2 hour trip to the top of the terraces for 180 yuan, but after about 15 minutes they turfed us off the horses and disappeared. We had... More
