Amazingly, many locals running, walking, cycling, exercising around the lake. Chinese, Malays and Indians! The air was fresh and cool! Mix of young and old, relaxing and yet dynamic energy. WATER Levels were low --- I hope its not due to over-taping of the ground water to package as MINERAL water to sell nationwide.

This park was rescued from the spoil tips of an old tin mine by farsighted Brits long ago. Take an hour in the evening to walk along the paths and have a tea at the cafe, or row a boat on the lake. If you are feeling energetic, try horse riding at the excellent Taiping Equestrian Centre. The horses are... More

Taiping which means 'great peace' in Mandarin, is a small, peaceful town in the northern part of Malaysia. The beautiful Lake Gardens is located just a few minutes drive from the town and it is worth a visit if you're on your way to Penang. Huge rain trees more than 100 years old, line the road with their branches stretching... More

If you happen to be in Taiping, you might want to make a stop here and check out the place. However, if you're coming all the way just to see the Taiping Lake Gardens, then don't. It's grossly over-rated. I believe that the Gardens has the potential to be a really lovely place but poor maintenance has ruined it. Most... More

I always come here when I am in Taiping. I love to see the amazing trees. The place is well maintained and you can drive around easily. Very popular with people taking wedding photos. The sad thing is there seems to be more development and there is a drive through 24 hour McDs outside now.

This maybe a day trip from Kuala Lumpur when hiring a vehicle but well worth the travel for a traveller with a family. The gardens are wonderful and the zoo although small is still worth a visit.

This is the best designed lake gardens in Makaysia. The rain trees growing towards the lake looks like they are hands swooping in to collect water. Well maintained. Recommended to take a walk round the lake gardens. There's a zoo and night safari just next to it.

It's one of the must go places in perak if you are visiting the state. Love the scenery here but it seems that they had chopped down some of the very very old trees due to the danger that it could bring during heavy thunderstorm. But love the tranquility and the overall lake has to offer.
