Chateau de Cormatin offered more than I expected. Although the guided tour of the interior is done only in French there are typed scripts available in a number of languages so that you can follow along with what the guide is saying. Our guide did speak English and was able to answer questions. The tour gives a very interesting view... More

This is a lovely Chateau and worth a visit - especially the 19th century room - with some pretty cool pictures. But the 16th century rooms are really special. Particularly the Marquise's rooms - and the inner rooms - at the end of the tour. Maize was fun and gardens lovely. *Access is by guided tour only - I think... More

We are probably a bit spoilt for seeing Chateaux and when we compare Chateau Cormatin with others, unfortunately it is way down the list. Sad really because it has potential but has been left in a poor state. To those that run Cormatin perhaps you should use Château de Chenonceau as your benchmark? The entry fee is euro 10 each... One of the places we visited while on the Avalon Waterways River Cruise was Chateau Cormatin. Unfortunately, it rained a lot so the exploration of the out of doors was not a comfortable option. Not to worry, there was more than enough to interest you on the inside. A tour guide is definitely needed for this tour in order to... More

One of the most beautiful Chateaus in Burgundy with a astonishing garden. The 16th century decor and furnitures in the older part of the wings are amazing. If you like Castles, History and Only downside is that the tour was in French, but we got a book of all descriptions in English. Upside was that the tour guide spoke perfect... More

We visited the Chateau de Cormatin on an organised tour. The background history of its purchase and restoration is fascinating. Our guide took us on an interesting tour of a number of the rooms, and her knowledge of the historical aspects of the Chateau and its original inhabitants was very impressive. The various rooms featured differences in styles of decor... More

We were taken here from the river cruise ship MS A-Rosa Stella on an Emerald Waterways special excursion. Our visit was somewhat rushed as our coach had got tangled up with a car rally on the way. We found the Chateau of interest but in need of some TLC. The gardens looked somewhat disappointing from afar as we did not... More

Excellent small chateau with maze and lovely potager and flower gardens, a reasonable price but the only downside was there was no French translation for the visit.

Something our guide told as about the castle puts a lot into context. The three joint owners bought it in a very run down state. They are restoring without any government grant, so it’s the entrance fees and their own money that are paying for the work. One of the owners was in the box office selling the tickets as... More

We visited this chateau during our cycle tour through Burgundy and it is worth while to spend an hour or so. We took the guided tour which was interesting as they tell you a lot about the history of the beautiful place. The tour was in French when we visited beginning of May but we reveived the information on paper... More
