Beautiful chateau and gardens

Excellent small chateau with maze and lovely potager and flower gardens, a reasonable price but the only downside was there was no French translation for the visit.

We were taken here from the river cruise ship MS A-Rosa Stella on an Emerald Waterways special excursion. Our visit was somewhat rushed as our coach had got tangled up with a car rally on the way. We found the Chateau of interest but in need of some TLC. The gardens looked somewhat disappointing from afar as we did not... More

Something our guide told as about the castle puts a lot into context. The three joint owners bought it in a very run down state. They are restoring without any government grant, so it’s the entrance fees and their own money that are paying for the work. One of the owners was in the box office selling the tickets as... More

We visited this chateau during our cycle tour through Burgundy and it is worth while to spend an hour or so. We took the guided tour which was interesting as they tell you a lot about the history of the beautiful place. The tour was in French when we visited beginning of May but we reveived the information on paper... More

this chateau has a very interesting photographic display which shows the state of the house and grounds 35 years ago before any restoration. The transformation is testament to the dedication of the family who took the works on. There is still a lot to be done but they should be applauded for saving such an historic building for the future.the... More

Beautiful Chateau and gardens, but sadly neglected. A lovely tree lined pathway leads up to the castle. The garden is well planned with lovely statues and a water fountain. We feel that no entrance fee should be charged while renovations are underway, and the garden is in such a state.

This was a great visit. There is a tour for some of the inside rooms, which are pretty extensive and authentic. The outside grounds are beautiful to walk around.

We have visited Chateau de Cormatin on 29 September. It was an impressive but intimate water castle that stood in a beautiful park. Fireplaces, ceilings, tapestries and copper utensils were very interesting. The water moat and the magnificent gardens were also impressive as it added to the lifetime of "Three Musketeers" As the castle situated between Tournus and Cluny, the... More

The kitchen area of the Chateau. Plenty of copper utensils hanging from walls and ceiling. Nice fire in the wood burning fireplace used for cooking.

Park is a great examples of the sculptured ones and lovingly cared for. The chateau itself if probably average in a number of properties, but what is critical and relatively rare is that the interiors are in tact. French revolutions did not leave a lot of such places after them. Also they have guided tours performed by History students, which... More
