We booked a tour to Salto del Nogal with Colores Tapalpa. (http://www.colorestapalpa.mx) Our tour guide, Pascal, was informative, environmentally aware and safety conscious. The hike downhill is very challenging due to the heat, loose rocks and the grade of the incline. To get to the site, as many have noted, requires a vehicle ride on a non-asphalt road. Once you... The journey takes 45-60 minutes on a bumpy road, so you need an appropriate vehicle, but there are beautiful views along the way. Lots of horses and cows on the roadside. Just a little way down the trail there's a fork where the right-hand trail goes to a spectacular mirador or overlook. The canyon is dramatic and the view is... More

This waterfall is a little out of the way and you have to ask around to get to it because you have to go through back country dirt roads to get to the "parking" area- or the dead end to the dirt road- once there there are usually a lot of cars so it seems safe to park there and... More
