All was good with the Chi-Cheemaun. Departed and arrived on time. Loading of vehicles was organized and quick. Going from Tobermory to South Baymouth there was "tour guide" available in the forward lounge, pointing out interesting aspects of the area and it's history. It was a very interesting option and we were happy to have caught it. Three trips so... More

If you are going to be taking this ferry, I would suggest booking ahead. On the Manitoulin Island side I showed up an hour before the ferry departure time. However, I had no booking (reservation) and was placed on standby. Even with a motorcycle I didn't make it on to the ferry and was forced to wait over four hours... More

It was very interesting to watch the vehicles disembark the ferry and then see more vehicles load up again. It seems to be a fine-oiled operation with so much precision involved with several staff assisting. It fascinated me to see a large transport get on. When all the vehicles were done loading, the large "mouth" with hydraulics would close and... More

If you are coming or going to Manitoulin Island, this car ferry is the only way to go. But if you just want a fun day trip as pedestrians, this is a fun mini-adventure. A big, modern car ferry. Cafeteria, lounges, deck seating. Inexpensive tickets are always available for pedestrians.

We recently traveled from Georgian Bay to northern Manitoba. We have never taken the ferry but were pleasantly surprised with the organization of the entire trip. It was suggested that you pre book your passage and you can do it either either by phone or internet. You must be there an hour in advance or your spot will not be... More

there is a GREAT little cafeteria on board with lots of choice. Tip: Get in line immediately upon boarding or you will be in line for a looong time! Lots of opportunity for great photography during the journey; don't miss the Cove Island lighthouse!

A beautiful sunny morning for a cruise to Manitoulin Island. So much nicer than driving all that way.

We went from South Baymouth to Tobermory. The ride was totally smooth, even though the water looked a little choppy at times. There are lots of seats inside and out. There was a Parks Canada guy on board who talked about some history, geography, and wildlife. Very interesting. The ride seemed shorter than 1 3/4 hours. We made our reservation... More

I debated whether to add the downside of this trip as I so love the Bruce Peninsula, Tobermory and my trip on the Chi-Cheemaum every few years...... So what's with the crew! these wonderful Ambassadors to Canada!!! Man, if only I could work part of the year, in the outdoors, on the lake, meeting people from all over the country... More
