This is a hill covered with crosses. Frankly, I found it a bit weird and I don't think I'd have chosen to stop here, though I recognise that people are entitled to their own beliefs and perspectives. Other than the crosses, there's nothing.

I am non religious, so for me, this site is very weird. But for the religious, it is a very special place, almost a required pilgrimage. Hundreds and hundreds of crosses of all sizes, shapes, dimensiions, crammed together. Rosary beads hanging all over the crosses. My religious Lithuanian relatives look upon this site with awe and piety. For them, it... More

Not to much interested, when I heard hill of crosses fisrt time.....but this place was really suprise for me. You can not imagine such an interesting place only by number of crosses. It had to take an ages to bring all of them there. It is not a real hili, just a rib or hump. You should visit this place,... More

The Hill of Crosses is a spectacular site that photos don't do justice. It is totally worth the effort it takes to get there. It was quiet with only a few visitors in the late morning. A lot of tourists arrived by bus in the afternoon, but even still, it was not terribly crowded. There is a visitor centre located... More

We were in Vilnius for a week and made a special detour to visit the Hill of Crosses. From Vilnius it is a drive of 2 hours (220 kilometers). It is worth to visit if you are in the neighbourhood because it is so impressive. The atmosphere and the whole look of it is not to catch in some photos.... More

I'd seen pictures. It's small and yet well-worth the trip. A palpable energy emanates from this maze, heap, bric-a-brac of gazilions of crosses. The religious meaning is obvious but the hill is also a vibrant plea for independence, a monument to invicible faith in the national soul. The KGB cordoned it off and ultimately bulldozed it and yet it always... More

Beautiful place, worth visiting if you are in Lithuania, we went night time and it was so peaceful! As it was winter it was very cold and windy, but still good experience!

I like this place - you can get it very easy by car. We stopped there on our way from Latvia. This hill of crosses is like "living organism" - you can see many new crosses. The best time for visit is later in the afternoon - you can have very good light for your photos.

Heard from a couple of friends how interesting and unique this site was. So we booked an afternoon trip with a private tour operator from Riga to visit this place in Lithuania and the Rondales Palace back in Latvia. So worth it. We were tired, as we had just arrived from a 4 hour bus ride from Tallin, Estonia that... More
