It is a place worth to visit, but just because I had never seen something like this before. I think it has meaning for some people, but now it is mostly another turist spot.

In the middle of nowhere on the route from Vilnius to Riga is a minor hill covered in crosses and rosary beads. The crosses were piled high on top of each other and place to us had a morbid feeling especially on a wild, wet and windy day with the sky turning black as a storm was brewing.

If you are planning on driving from Vilnius, it is a long 3 hour drive. I think it is closer from Riga than it is from Vilnius. That being said, the road is fine for the drive and not much of traffic. The hill itself is surreal. It is unique and i have never seen such an attraction before. Even... More

I am a lithuanian and have lived in Siauliai city for 11 years of my childhood and now live in UK, but when I visit my hometown there is never a time that I don't come to the hill of crosses! It is a special place with a unique atmosphere! Well looked after and beautiful :) the only negative thing... More

I have always wanted to go here and am so excited to have visited! It was beautiful and spiritual and I am so happy that I got the chance to see it and give my own cross with my family name on it!! :)

The hills of crosses itself is a pretty awesome site. It's quite a small hill really but its impact is felt immediately. You can buy crosses there from the information centre to add to the hill. It doesn't take long to go around so you will probably only need 30mins. We travelled to the hills of crosses from Riga. It... More

Been to many places but I can't say I've ever seen anything like the Hill of Crosses. What seems to be in the middle of nowhere, there is this place on a hill with thousands and thousands of crosses. Anyone can place a wooden cross here. It took us about 30-40 minutes to walk through the area and entrance is... More

If you find yourself deep inside Lithuania, then visit, but I'm not sure I would go out of my way unless you feel the need to make a religious pilgrimage here. We visited as a slight detour on our way back from the shore. In April the tourist shop, bathrooms, and cafe across the street were all closed, so be... More

There are bus tours that go here from Kaunas and Vilnius (we were staying in Vilnius) but I would recommend hiring a car (as theyre very cheap from local agencies) and enjoying the road trip at your own pace so you can stop at various places along the way. It also means that you can enjoy the hill itself, once... More

I have been to the Hill of Crosses on a number of occasions with various visitors, starting in 2006. The first couple of times I found myself very moved by the atmosphere of the place. The hill actually comprises a number of mounds, each covered by many thousands of crosses of all sizes, placed by many thousands of visitors and... More
