Unusual small nature reserve with an incredible suspension bridge, lovely river and estuary, fantastic dunes and beach and a huge number of rare birds and plants.

This park is a paradise! Walk alongside the Heuningnesrivier to a spectacular beach, where the river flows into the sea. Swim with tiny fishes in the shallow, pristine waters on the way to the beach, and marvel at the amazing bird life, including flamingoes that will sometimes put on a spectacular flight display, revealing their beautiful colour. Its a circular walk so we assumed we could walk along the beach and find a... More

Very good selection of birdlife especially sea birds. The fishing is hard as there is no bait collection allowed... More

The reserve proposes a 7km walk, which can be done slowly and is accessible to anyone. We has our picnic on the dunes spotting whales, but the site also offers tables and grass to have your picnic on, and a point of view on the area around. We had a wonderful time there.

There appeared to be other facilities, such as fishing, boat launching and maybe camping on the site. There is a toilet by... More
