I wasn't paticularly taken by this venue, but others may be. The white palace buildings in vaguely 18th century European style surround a square garden layout. Entrance to the museum is quite pricey at 450 Rs, and I've seen better museums elsewhere though this one has some idiosyncratic items such as the model railway that carries brandy around the enormous... Beautiful. One is soaked in with beautiful architecture and learns about the grand life of the maharajas of the yore. Very well kept.

This place has been rated very high by many from TripAdvisor Community. But these are all sign of how low and week is the observations of many. When you visit this place, you will find the Following Flag: Totally Inspired by British Empire, This flag has nothing Indian In It. Architect: Architect himself is a person from British, this place... More

If you like to see the opulent lifestyle of Indian Kings than Jai Vilas Palace is the place to be. The Entry fees and camera charges are high considering an middle class indian family but its worth it. Since the palace was built in the 20th Century hence there is little history attached to it but in terms of the... More

The museum is in a part of the palace. You have to deposit your bags etc in a locker before entering. Some parts of the museum are incredibly boring (unless you are a fan of the late Madhav Rao Scindia), containing nothing but pens, pictures, medals, clothes and furniture of the late politician. Other parts, like the Durbar Hall, are... More

The Jai Vilas Palace Museum is at a stones throw distance from Usha Kiran Palace where we stayed. The museum cum Palace is worth visiting . The royal photos and collections of Scindhia dynasty is unique . I recommend all must visit the heritage place.

This neo-classical palace, the residence of the royal family, takes you back in time and showcases the lifestyle of the Maharajas! A section of the palace is converted into a museum exhibiting silver baggi & rath, Persian carpets, armoury, crystalware, paintings, stuffed white tiger skin & other precious artifacts. The highlight of the museum tour is the Darbar Hall, that... More

For a westerner, it is difficult to imagine just how extravagantly some maharajas lived. Good taste or bad taste, call it what you will, but this palace was built and furnished to impress. This is not the largest palace in India but many of its furnishings came from Europe, and we were overwhelmed by its over-the-top opulence. We hired a... More
