Unless your are a die hard explorer fan this is not really worth visiting. For me I found it quite interesting having read up about Magellan.

We consider this place as one of the flagship of Cebu. With fellow photograph enthusiast, we made this place as our starting venue on our activity. It's not that its easy to find but this place showcased a lot. Simple packed with historical stuff about Cebu

All locals should come here when in Cebu. If you have foreign friends or balikbayans bring them here. Also known as Liberty Shrine which is most appropriate for Magellan the Explorer died here and the hero Lapu lapu won a first and great victory for a nation with a stigma of losing to every foe it ever had. There is... More

Took a 20-minute cab ride to this place and had to have the driver wait because of the lack of taxis in the area. the memorial is a small park with an obelisk in the middle and a smaller covered plaque and mural of Magellan's death at the hands of Lap Lapu on the beach. It's interesting if you're a... More

We made a short visit to Magellan's Shrine last summer 2014. From the Mactan Airport, we proceeded directly to see the Shrine before taking lunch. We decided to maximize our time considering that we have so much on our itinerary list. It was around 11:00 in the morning and the sun was scorching hot. The visit could have been more... More

This is where Ferdinand Magellan was killed by Chief Lapu-lapu, the namesake of the city. It is a relaxing place to stroll around and to take photos. There is also an area where you can buy souvenirs.

If you're around the area you should definitely drop by. Give yourself 10-15 minutes to walk around the whole place. There's a part where you'll see the shrine with the under construction condominium buildings on the background.. History and modernization in one picture together is perfect.

A good piece of history here, we were staying so close by so would of been crazy not to visit. You don't need a lot of time, and can literally walk around the whole place in 10 mins with small children in tow (including a couple of photos). I wouldn't travel a long way just to see this site. Super... More
