Wonderful blue sky, and very colourful display. This was Wednesday during crocus week. Could have been a tad warmer! Lunch in the tearoom. Venison terrine with pistachios and toast was outstanding. Small menu but high in quality. Last visit was summer fair and this visit made an interesting comparison with the activity in high season.

Only the gardens were open when we visited in February, but even so, Forde Abbey is still worth a visit. The gardens are spectacular even in early spring - so many snowdrops, crocuses and mini cyclamen. Can't wait to return in another season when it is also possible to see the inside of the abbey.

I am a bit of a lover of romantic places.Forde Abbey ticks all the boxs and some. You need to allow plenty of time to be able to appreciate this magical place, the gardens are so beautiful it makes you want to lift a spade. We didnt use the Cafe, but it looked very inviting.

My last visit was to see the snowdrops in flower on a beautiful sunny Sunday afternoon with the dogs. I love watching the fountain here and if you stop for a drink there are some good local juices on offer. Great place to relax in the sun and lazily explore the gardens and house.

I am surprised to read the negative comments on some people's reviews of this wonderful place. We live locally and visit regularly as the membership card is well worth the money and can't believe they don't charge in November. It is so dog friendly it is untrue, where else could you take your dog in the cafe? Certainly better than... More

We went to Forde Abbey Gardens yesterday because entrance to the gardens is free on some days during November, and we didn't have enough time to go around the house. The vegetable garden still looked pretty spectacular even in on a soggy November morning, and the autumn colour on the trees was wonderful. Haven't visited for years and really enjoyed... More

We spent a few hours here. The grounds were very nice and the fountain very spectacular. The tour of the house was informative and interesting. We had lunch in the cafe and were very impressed with the quality and the service.

We went just after the house had closed for the season so can only comment on the gardens and coffee shop. The extensive gardens were beautiful and well worth the walk around, the fountain, one of the most powerful in the country, is quite spectacular to see. My wife is into photography and she spent several hours wondering around shorting... More

The Abbey is well worth a visit. The grounds contain a number of wonderful gardens. We had lunch in the cafe and brought some plants to take home. The fountain is worth seeing but take care if it is windy as you may get wet!
