A lovely place to visit - the house was interesting, as it is filled with many items, furniture and more dating back as far as the 13th century. Interesting to find out about the history of the Abbey, and worth paying the extra fee for the house and gardens together. The gardens were lovely on a summers day, we went... More

A lovely place to spend a morning or afternoon, the gardens are fabulous all on the flat for those that struggle a bit.The house is a real beauty with the history of course attributed to the wonderful decor (although there are stairs to climb to really enjoy)After a well deserved break you can browse in the shop or have a bite... Forde Abbey is a private "house" with a magnicent garden, large but manageable. The buildings are half-lived in by the family and half open to the hoi polloi including my family and dogs. The fabric of the house is beautiful and warmly charming, some good pieces of furniture but little in the way of great art

Visited the gardens as the Abbey wasn't open the day we went (no huge deal having a dog one of us would have had to have stayed outside anyway) but we enjoyed ourselves regardless. The gardens are stunning, well maintained and I'm so jealous of all the tulips standing proud, mine always flopped lol. The gardeners were friendly too as... More

I'd been to Forde Abbey years before but in the summer time so it was lovely to see it in the spring and to note any changes. I think the garden is a real joy - relaxed and informal but with enough interest to keep keen gardeners satisfied. The tulips in various parts were lovely and it was great to... More

What a credit to the owners. Wonderful gardens and house, cafe for coffee and cake. I am an avid gardener so enjoyed the totally relaxed walk, my wife was a little bored. It must be extremely hard work for the upkeep. A must to re-visit

My husband and I spent a lovely day looking around the garden and house. We decided to walk around the garden in the morning, which was fortunate, because it rained during the afternoon! It is a lovely garden, I was most impressed as the owners of the Abby were actually working in the garden! The garden has several lakes, one... More

Forde abbey is a hidden jewel in Somersets countryside, you can while away the hours in the gardens on a glourious day. Just strolling around the gardens and abbey take you away from the mundaine. It is a little pricey but alot goes into the gardens and I'd say the best time to visit is Summertime with the colours and... More
