We did visit here sometime earlier in the year, when it was considerably warmer. This visit was quite cold, but still a worthwhile visit. We will return as most of these old houses require some extra time to consume all that they display.

Visited on the last day of October - a glorious sunny blue-sky day when coats could be left in the car! The house wasn't open but we had dogs with us so no inconvenience. The outside of the house is fabulous and the chapel worth a visit. The gardens, even this late in the season, were lovely with plenty of... More

We went to this lovely venue in late October and would highly recommend a visit. It is well signposted from the road although be aware that some of the roads in the vicinity are quite narrow and twisty so it is not advised to drive quickly as there are horses and other vehicles around hidden bends. On arrival there is... More

Beautiful gardens even in October the colours were amazing with so many lovely old trees. The house was worth a visit and we found it interesting and the staff were friendly and knowledgeable. We would like to have seen one bedroom in the secret abbey presented as it would have been for the monks. Definitely coming back in the summer... More

Visited on a day the house was not open. It didn't matter one bit. The gardens are beautiful and the fountain on Mermaid pond stunning. Say hello to Twiglet, the 50 year old pony, if you visit.

Lovely day out, Forde Abbey is a very interesting place, with lovely gardens to relax in. The fountain was very high, and several people had to move so as not to get wet - amusing to watch. Will definitely be back in the spring.
