The promenade used to be really good, but the ajuntamiento/ town hall went bonkers and put a cycle path right outside the restaurants, which is used by a minority, god help your child if it is struck head height by a cycle. The locals do not like it (we are locals), the restauranteurs hate it with good reason. There are... More

We decided to take a trip out to Altea from Benidorm and took the local no 10 bus which stops at Altea. After walking around to find our bearings we found our journey starting at he promenade, a pleasant walk and a few drinks at local beach side establishments was lovely! Then headed uphill towards what we caught glimpse of... More

Not the best beach. It is stony and featureless. There are a few things for children: climing frame etc. Reasonably clean. Limited disabled facilities and access. Car parking full in Summer.

The beach is disgusting with builders 'sharp' sand deposited by trucks to cover up the boulders laying around. The sand is used as a toilet by all the locally owned 'mascotas'. Thick layers of rotting seaweed add to the dubious delights which are all overshodowed by a delapidated promenade (watch where you walk). A truely sad reflection on what could... More

Go there if you can, just for the bars and the restaurants. Excellent food, local or tourist grub. Great value too and a fantastic, chilled atmosphere.

walking on the prom is really great and with all the good restaurants just a few metres away it makes for a good place to holiday. The beach has sand and pebbles, very clean and nice to see at night also. NO LAGER LOUTS but just very nice people enjoying the atmosphere.

The beach at Altea is a mixture of sand and pebbles, clean and pleasant and lots of nearby facilities. For me the best thing about it is that the promenade extends all the way down to Albir, where there is a similar excellent beach; a lovely half-hour stroll. Check out the marina as well.

Beach wasnt as attractive as Benidorm in texture but WOW is all I can say about the tranquility of Altea Beach and the cafe's restaurants and bars. HOWEVER you get a lot of african males selling you anything form watches to training/running shoes. During one visit of less than half hour. If I was onclined to buy these fake goods.... More
