Sand is in very short supply on the beaches in the area, they are mainly large stoney areas but if you don't have children then you can get by. The areas are very popular the views are lovely.

Huge pebbles but there were sun loungers 2 x brollie E12 a day. The sea is vey strong and the sea bed moves accordingly, water gets very deep very quickly but if you are a "swimmer" its ok. Altea is a town of 2 halves, stay on the front if you can and then get a cab/drive to the old... More

The beach is ok a bit, sandy but mostly pebbly, the best beaches are at Benidorm, just a 14 minute Tram ride away. Altea has a lovely old town with winding pebbled streets,if you keep on walking up to the top you come to a Plaza with a Beautiful church at the top. You are allowed in this church,a must see!! What a beautiful place. Enough restaurants and bars to visit a different one every night and we were there for 2 weeks. Make sure to visit la teraza and say hi to Jan. Dutch run bar/restaurant and great atmosphere. Best sangria in Spain and the ribs...... Unbelievable

The 'main street' going through Altea can be a bit busy at times and does not give the best impression of the town, but the beach and the old town just have to be given a visit. The beach is pebbles not sand but this gives a certain charm to it. Lovely to walk along and plenty of cafes/restaurants to... More

We stopped off for some lunch with tea. Best sandwiches we enjoyed in Costa Blanca. The owner is Joe Allen Carson - delightful service

this is a very lovely resort , a real taste of the where old and new Spain meet , the beach is very small but the walk along the front during both day and night is truly something to behold , for those of an adventurous type , a walk up to the chapel at the top of the hill... More

Altea is a lovely place, the beach is beautiful but stoney in part. Lots of nice shops and restaurants. Really good place for a vacation.

The promenade used to be really good, but the ajuntamiento/ town hall went bonkers and put a cycle path right outside the restaurants, which is used by a minority, god help your child if it is struck head height by a cycle. The locals do not like it (we are locals), the restauranteurs hate it with good reason. There are... More
