Went from Benidorm to Altea for a few hours. Loved Altea, well worth a visit. A nice quiet area with a lovely walk along the promanade. Nice quiet bars and restaurants to stop by. No loud music just a peacefull place.

An excellent typically Spanish Costa Blanca sea front. The marina is large and seemingly getting bigger - always busy but a working area for fishermen especially. A range of handy and delightful bars and restaurants along the sea front - allied to the old town just up the hill.

Nice to walk along the sea front in Altea: the beach is mostly pebble, but still very pleasant.Walk along to Albir, stop at bars retaurants on the way...or hire a bicycle.

We were on a road trip around Spain. We like simple, tranquil and quality - this beach was it. A fantastic place to sit and absorb the ambiance. Not much for families to enjoy but this means that it is quieter for older couples. Beautiful.

Altea has been spared the hoards because unlike it's neighbours Benidorm and Calpe, the beach is stony. However providing you bring your own sunbed or are happy to pay for renting one, then you can enjoy the wonderful shoreline and views without too many people around. There seem to be mostly couples which is not surprising when there is no sand... Yes it is a stony beach, yes it is relatively small compared to Levante or Ponente, yes it has a little bit of food/drink available (2 snack bars), but the biggest positive it that it is not in Benidorm! It is relatively unfrequented because of the factors outlined above. So if throbbing music from miles of beach bars is your... More

Down at the beach in Altea, a place called La O'lla about 1km north of Altea town centre and discovered a veritable paradise. No sand but a beautiful natural cove and one of the nicest bays I have ever seen, even in August no crowds. We walked down from the main road and took an orange sign which said "El... More

Altea Beach is a beach where one has to struggle a little bit to find a position which is best for the spine etc...But what a relief from the crowded beaches nearby like benidorm or Calpe. And still, just 2 steps from bars and shops.
